Oliver's POVA few minutes had passed when both Shawn and Devin walked through the door. They both slightly bowed their heads to me in respect, but froze when they saw Jareth. Shawn was confused, as Jareth looked like my twin, but with silver in his hair. Devin wore a completely shocked face. Devin knew that Jareth was potentially alive, and now he was staring at him in disbelief. Finally breaking free of the trance he was in, Devin spoke to me through mind-link.
"I knew something was different when you mentioned Jareth. I thought it was merely a coincidence. Obviously it is not. Does he know who you are to him? Does he know about Emma? What are we..." I had to cut him off. I understand that he is feeling a little overwhelmed, but so do I. Since when did a long lost relative show up?
"Devin, Shawn, please take a seat." I said and gestured to the other seats in my office. I was already getting a headache from all this fun. "Alright. Now this is Jareth..." I motioned to Jareth, "Jareth, this is my Beta Devin and my Gamma Shawn. Devin isn't able to talk, but can either sign to you, or talk through me. He can mind-link like the rest of us, but isn't able to use his voice." I explained to him. I knew Devin would be irritated if Jareth managed to comment on it before knowing. "I've updated Jareth on everything that's happened recently, including his mate Emma. We need to come up with a rescue mission." Both my Beta and Gamma looked at each other and nodded. You could tell they were a little apprehensive since we didn't know Jareth at all, except what's written down and what Emma has told me.
"What do we know?" Shawn asked.
"We know she is being held captive by Michael. I'm guessing she's being held in a nice room, since he likes her. Shawn, do you remember how many cells were lavishly prepared?"
"While I haven't seen all the cells, I know that one cell in particular was very lavish. The one they held me in. I'm pretty sure I could scent it out if I get close enough. I do remember Emma's scent, even though we only met once."
"Let's get to it. Devin, could you put together a stealth team? We need highly silently trained warriors. Jareth, do you have anything to add?" I asked him. After all, he needs to feel like he's a part of this as well.
"Not at this time. I can leave my warriors to protect the women and children of your pack while we're going." He offered. I nodded in agreement to his statement. Only then did I realize that Anna and Lila were missing from the meeting. I mind-linked Shawn and Devin so we didn't cause any alarm to Jareth. I still wasn't sure how he would react.
"When I called you both here, I asked for Anna and Lila too. Where are they?" I questioned. Shawn looked nervous.
"Well... I.... You see..." Shawn was having trouble finishing his thought. I took notice of his appearance, which I'm now noting as desheveled.
'Why is he so nervous?' I thought to myself. "Shawn, what's going on with you? I've never seen you like this." I voiced aloud, with concern written on my face. Shawn was one of my best friends and I couldn't understand why he was so shaken. Shawn looked down at the ground, then lifted his gaze just enough to meet my eyes.
"Um, well. Anna just found out we're expecting a pup, or cub. I'm not sure which. I was kind of freaking out a little.... Ok maybe more than I should've." Shawn managed to spit out. His words were strewn together so fast, that I almost didn't process what he said. "I'm not sure if I'll be a good dad. Lila stayed with Anna because she was upset with me acting the way I did. I'm so nervous, and scared. What if I'm a horrible father? What will happen to our child once it reaches the age to get it's wolf or bear? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THIS!" He yelled the last part and started hyperventilating. I walked over and put my hands on his shoulders and told him to breathe.
"Shawn, calm down. We'll figure this out. Devin will do some research to see if this has ever happened in history." Devin nodded and took out his phone to write it down. "Take some deep breaths. In through your nose, out your mouth. Come on, I'll do it with you." I started taking deep breaths to get Shawn to copy my movements. Soon he became calm and looked at me with a sense of relief.
"Thank you Oliver. I don't know what I'd do without you, or you Devin. I have no words to describe how much I appreciate you." He admitted looking to me, then Devin.
"No worries. We're family after all. Let's start this planning. I'll talk to Anna later, after she calms down a bit more." Jareth was looking at Shawn like he grew two heads. He stayed silent, but that look was more than a little uncomfortable, even for me. "Jareth," I called out. Jareth's gaze was now on me, as I spoke to him. "Do you have anything to say? Or are we ok to continue our planning?" I asked, giving him a pointed look.
"No. Let's continue." was all he said. His death glare back on Shawn. I just shook my head. I'm not sure why he has a problem with mates. Maybe Shawn should've waited to say anything. After all, we don't really know Jareth. I mean, besides the information on what we've read, what Emma has told us, and the stories we hear growing up. I'm very surprised that he is this old fashioned, even when his mate is a witch. I decided to ignore this for now and focus on the planning to save his wife.
We talked and drew the layout of the Golden Honey Clan. While most of it was done using Google Earth, Shawn could give us the layout of the inside of the main house. We just weren't sure if they would've moved her by now. Shawn's memory of the place was fading, but we still had a few pictures to go off of from when he spent time there. All that mattered at that moment was the path to the cell we thought she was in. Thankfully, Shawn could remember that much.
Jareth stayed silent the whole time, just listening and watching what was going on while we planned. I am pretty sure that he's going to try and rescue her alone. After several hours, I dismissed Devin and Shawn as our plan was complete. I escorted Jareth to the room I had prepared for him. I broke the silence.
"Look, I know you are planning to leave here after you think we're asleep." I gave him a knowing look. "I had Devin leave your belongings in your room. The only thing that's missing is this ring." I brought up my hand to show him. "There are three others that are there though. Do me a favor and think about this before you leave. Will Emma survive if you storm in there alone? What if you're caught with no back up? Who will save her then? Just try thinking logically and not a mate that's lost his." Jareth gave me a knowing smirk.
"I'll think about it. Good night."
