MY Yesterday and Forever

32 - It's Complicated

David calls you as you waited for soundcheck to start. A familiar-looking man, who is smiling at you stands next to him. You already have an idea who he might be but you're unsure.

"Y/N, it's good to see you." He said.

"So, you know her too?" David asks.

"Of course, I do. She didn't speak Korean fluently back then, but things are different now obviously." He replies.

"Jay?" You ask, still not sure if it's really him because he's far from the boy you met years ago. Gone was his eyebrow slit and his hair is no longer colored and shaved. Instead, his hair is now a natural black, well-trimmed, and he looks very business-like in his grey shirt and black jacket. 

"I barely recognized you." You tell him with a laugh.

Jay clears his throat. "Well, I had to clean up. I have a wife and a child now." He starts telling you that he got married a year ago and his wife just gave birth. 

"Congratulations. Boy or girl?" You ask him. You can't remember how old he is now, but you remember that he is older than Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hoseok. 

"Girl. I'm new to all the daddy duties but I am learning." He continues to chat about his baby, and you can see how happy he is. Sometime during your conversation, David's phone rang so he excuses himself.

"Enough talking about me, what about you? How have you been? I see your cousin a lot, but she doesn't tell me much about you whenever I ask."

You shrug. "It's a very long and complicated story." You just answer.

Jay could sense you do not want to talk about it now, but he goes on. "I didn't know you worked as an interpreter until Yoongi told me about it."

You smile at him. "Well, I do not work as an interpreter anymore, but I was just requested for the job and my boss wouldn't take any answer but yes."

Jay nods his head. "I know." His voice dropped lower. "Yoongi gave us so much shit until he got what he wanted to work with you. He also asked me to come back asap to get David off his back."

You tilt your head. You couldn't understand why Yoongi would do that until Jay explains that he is Yoongi's personal manager. Years after he got launched as an artist, Yoongi got him into the company as one of the road managers. When his personal manager got promoted two years ago, and the position opened, Yoongi requested Jay to take his place.

"So, I get that you and Yoongi are back together that's why he asked me to come here. David does everything by the book so he can be a pain in the ass sometimes." Jay whispers to you.

You look around to make sure no one was around before you answer.

"I am engaged, Jay."

Jay looks back at you in shock, his mouth drops open. "You and Yoongi got engaged?" He asked.

"No!" You yell and drop your tone again. "I am engaged with someone else."

His expression doesn't change at all because he is still shocked by your new answer. 

"What? I am confused." He tells you.

"It's a long story, but I am already engaged with someone else when I got this job. Yoongi and I got to talk and straightened things out later on. But things got a bit complicated..." You left the rest for him to guess and judging by his expression he seems to get it.

"Ok, because I haven't gotten a chance to speak with Yoongi about this yet. Ok, thank you for letting me know all of these. At least now I have a bit of an idea of what's happening. I am not going to get into whatever is going on between the two of you unless it would affect his career." He smiles at you. "We are not done catching up about everything. I got to start working and it's good seeing you again Y/N." He says before he steps forward to give you a hug.
