"So, tell me how long have you been doing music?" You ask him. You can tell you asked the right question because his eyes brighten as he starts talking.

Composing songs and rapping started as early as middle school. He listened to a lot of rap music and he studied their styles and techniques. He said he didn't want to sound just like the artists he listened to but he wants to create his own sound and style of rapping, which he did. He said he started chasing after his dream by joining underground rap competitions when he was in to high school. That is when he met Hoseok and Namjoon and that's when got to be a group. All of them contributed in making their music.

When you ask him if someone has ever tried to buy their music from them, he said there had been a number of offers, in fact he already had three of his songs bought from him. Two of those  were not paid in monetary form but he just wanted for his name to get into the main stream as a writer and a producer. He got the acknowledgement that he wanted and it's enough for him.

On the third song, he got paid for and acknowledged at the same time. That is how he was able to afford to live in this place. His parents stopped supporting him financially when he decided not to go to college because they got disappointed with him. He said he struggled so much he took Namjoon and Hoseok's offer to live at their place for a bit.

He worked part time doing food deliveries, and one of his regular customers, an elderly lady, got fond of him because he'd always listen to her stories and tirade about her life. She offers him a job one day, as a building maintenance  in a place that she owns.  He's a bit apprehensive to take it at first because of his evening gigs, so she asks if she wants to work part-time instead.  She also offers that he gets to stay at the roof deck house with a minimal rent. His job is simple, help out the maintenance guys with whatever needs to get repaired. He works four times a week for five hours. His salary is higher than what he gets in delivering food plus he doesn't have to leave the place where he lives.

The building where he is staying is rented by offices, so there are a lot of repairs that constantly needs to get done. The house on the roof is where the old lady's son used to live. That explains why there's a separate entrance and exit for the house, plus the house being well built and has amenities such as air conditioning. Her son eventually got his own place so it became vacant until Yoongi moved in. She mentions to him that he reminds her of her son, who rarely visits her anymore. Because of that, Yoongi makes it a point to drop by her house as often as he can just to see if she's doing well.

"Things are still not easy for me. But definitely much better to my life before. No more skipping meals so I have enough money until my next pay day." He tells you.

"Are you eating well and not skipping meals anymore?" You ask him. You feel sorry that he had to go through that, you just want to hug him for what he had to go through.

He looks a bit embarrassed over what he just told you but he responds.

"Yes."

He doesn't tell you about some of the female employees from the offices who  brings him food quite often. He knew those women likes him but he avoids to get into any kind of relationship with them out of respect for the old lady who owns the building. It wouldn't hurt that he accepts the food they give him though.

"When you become famous, all of these will just be a memory you will be sharing to people. I feel that your talent will bring you to places." You tell him as you lay next to him watching the stars in the sky.

He snorts. "You have so much faith in me when you've only met me tonight."

You shrug. "So what? I saw what you can do, many popular celebrities started from humble beginnings. Every hardship and pain that you've gone through will be your fuel to drive you in reaching for your dreams."
