You were sent to Seoul right after your high school graduation to visit your dad and grandmother. You and Kylee were supposed  to visit them for Christmas but you had to cancel your flight because of an emergency surgery. You had to get your appendix removed. Kylee wanted to stay because she's worried about you, but your Aunt Beth told her she has to leave because it's what your dad wanted.

Your dad remarried since you were in grade 8, that was three years after your mom passed away. Your mom's from an American-Spanish descent while your dad is Korean. His new wife is also Korean and she had no intentions of moving to the States nor have his children from his previous marriage live with them. That is why you and your sister had to stay with Aunt Beth, your mom's twin sister. She's just like your mom in every sense of the word. Even their eye color were the same, just like Kylee, they have grey eyes. Aunt Beth wasn't strict at all, she'd remind you about what not to do and if you still end up doing it, she'll let you learn from your own mistakes. She and your mom may have a lot of similarities but the fact still remains that she is not the one who gave birth to you and have raised you until she got sick...you don't like reminiscing that part of your life, it's too painful.

You and Kylee may have been quite a handful, but Aunt Beth always kept her composure. Both of you feel bad whenever your do something she doesn't approve of because you know she is giving up her life for you, she is too kind. She never complained that you two misbehaved because she feels the life you are facing isn't easy, from your mom's passing to your dad's remarriage.

Since your dad got married again, he only got to visit you and your sister in the States twice. You stopped visiting Korea to see your grandma too. His new wife , Aunt Eun-Sil, doesn't like him spending a lot of time with you and your sister. Reality is, she does not like you or your sister at all. The only reason why she agreed for both of you to visit at present, is that your grandma  had requested it. She is getting old and has heart problems, so Aunt Eun-Sil, has no choice but to give in to what she wanted.

You and your sister questioned your dad's love for you because he follows what his wife wants and never made a stand for the two of you. It's all his wife's fault too. You put the blame on her for everything. So, you and your sister had made it your mission to be a pain on your stepmom's ass, while you were on your vacation there.  Both of you were a walking nightmare for Aunt Eun-Sil. Your enjoyment is to see her get angry at you.

You have a cousin, Elin, the daughter of your dad's brother, she's the same age as you and is  good in speaking English. You used to play with her whenever you're in Seoul when you were little and you get along with her real well. She was given the task to take you around  to places girls your age  enjoys going.

You have a bit of a problem with the language, so Elin was a great help. You can understand Korean more than you can speak it. When you were younger, your dad was satisfied that you can understand him but was never adamant in making you speak it. Your mom encouraged him to teach you and your sister which he would do but not too often.

"Don't you ever go clubbing?" You ask Elin one day after spending the entire day walking endlessly in different popular spots in Seoul.

She shakes her head. "Not much. Do you like hip hop?" Her face brightens up as she asked you the question.

"Yeah, I like it. I like all kinds of genres of music, actually." You tell her.

She gives you a bright smile, she's obviously pleased that you do. "Would you like to go to this place where my boyfriend performs? He's a rapper."

"Wow cool, I would love to go." You tell her, impressed about what she just revealed.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" She asks you.
