Tara's POV
I closed the door behind me and turned around, only to find Klaus standing there, his hand pressed firmly against the door, blocking my path.
"Klaus, I need to shower. Move out of the way," I said, crossing my arms.
His eyes gleamed gold, a sign he wasn't entirely himself. After a moment, he stepped aside, and I walked to the closet, grabbing my pajamas.
Once I finished showering, I walked back into the bedroom to find Klaus sitting on the bed, his head buried in his hands. Concerned, I approached him and knelt down.
"Klaus, you're scaring me. What's wrong?" I asked softly.
He looked up at me, his face troubled. "You know I love you, right?"
My heart started racing, and warmth spread across my face. "Yeah, I know. Klaus, your breath smells like bourbon. Are you drunk?"
"Vampires can't get drunk, especially hybrids," Klaus smirked, though his usual playfulness seemed forced.
I rolled my eyes and took his hand, guiding him to lie down. Klaus pulled me close, wrapping his arm tightly around my waist. My head rested against his bare chest, and he pulled the covers over us. His warmth and the steady rhythm of his breathing lulled me to sleep.
⸻
A few weeks passed, and I'd learned a lot from Freya. I could now perform magic and brew potions on my own. Rebecca and I had gone shopping for club dresses, planning a night out at a new club. Fingers crossed, Klaus would let me go.
It was finally Friday, and I had just gotten home from school. I grabbed Klaus's hand and pulled him upstairs.
"Klaus, I need to talk to you," I said, winking at Rebecca before closing the bedroom door behind us.
Klaus sat on the bed, watching me curiously. "What is it, love?"
I hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Rebecca and I want to check out this new club. We won't stay out too late, and I'll be really careful. Rebecca will stay by my side the entire time. So... can I go?"
Klaus's jaw tightened as he thought about it. His piercing eyes met mine. "Sorry, love, but no," he said with a slight smirk.
I stomped my foot in frustration and crossed my arms. "Please?" I begged.
Klaus stood and closed the distance between us, pulling me by the waist. He looked down at me, his expression softening slightly.
"Sorry, but the answer is still no. It's too dangerous. You're safer here at home with me."
He kissed my forehead before leaving the room.
Five minutes later, Rebecca burst in, looking hopeful. "So, did he say yes?"
I shot her a frustrated glare. "No, he said no."
Rebecca sighed and shrugged. "I figured as much. Time for Plan B."
"And what's Plan B?" I asked cautiously.
"We're going to that bloody club anyway. We leave at ten. Stay in your room, don't come to dinner, and I'll handle Klaus."
I nodded nervously as she left, closing the door behind her.
⸻
Around dinnertime, Klaus entered the room.
"Tara, it's time for dinner," he called, his tone soft.
I lay on the bed with my back to him, making sure he couldn't see my face. "I'm not hungry," I replied sharply.
Klaus sighed. "I understand you're upset about not going to the club, but we can do something else tomorrow. Anything you want."
"No. I want to go to the club," I said firmly.
Klaus growled, his patience wearing thin. "Fine, then. Stay here and starve," he snapped, slamming the door behind him.
I sat up, pushing the covers off my body. I was already dressed in a tight black dress that hugged my curves and stopped mid-thigh. My smoky eye makeup and curled hair completed the look.
An hour later, Rebecca opened the door, grinning. She waved me over, and I grabbed my purse, following her downstairs.
When we reached the dining room, I saw Klaus slumped over the table, his head resting on the surface.
"What did you do to him?" I whispered, wide-eyed.
Rebecca shrugged. "I just gave him a blood bag laced with vervain and wolfsbane. He'll be out for a couple of hours, maybe more."
I stared at her in disbelief. "Rebecca, that's dangerous!"
She rolled her eyes. "Oh, don't be so dramatic. He's a hybrid; he'll be fine."
We walked to her red convertible and got in. Rebecca drove recklessly, and after about ten minutes, we arrived at the club.
The line was long, but Rebecca walked straight to the bouncer, meeting his gaze. She murmured something to him, and he let us in without hesitation.
"What did you say to him?" I asked as we stepped inside, the music pounding around us.
Rebecca smirked. "I compelled him, darling."
I stared at her, confused. "Compelled?"
"Mind control," she explained casually.
"Oh," I murmured, following her to the bar.
Rebecca ordered us drinks, and I looked around while waiting. The club was packed, with people grinding on each other and making out. It wasn't really my scene, but I decided to give it a chance.
When the bartender set my drink down, I noticed it was a colorful concoction with an umbrella sticking out. It was cute, and it tasted sweet, almost like a shake.
Rebecca quickly downed her second drink. "Hey, Tara, I need to talk to someone in that booth over there. Stay here, okay?"
I nodded, sipping my drink. The sweetness was addicting, and I ordered two more. Soon, my anxiety faded, replaced by a light, carefree feeling.
I wandered onto the dance floor, my body swaying to the music as if it had a mind of its own. I raised my hands in the air, moving my hips to the rhythm.
After a while, I felt someone's hands on my waist. Turning around, I couldn't make out the person's face in the dim light, but I smiled up at them. We continued dancing, their hands holding my sides as I moved freely.

Klaus's POV
I woke up groggy, my head pounding. The last thing I remembered was drinking a blood bag Rebecca had handed me.
Realization struck, and I stormed out of the dining room, fury building.
"Rebecca!" I roared.
