Davina's POVI was in awe as I stared at the massive Ferris wheel adorned with golf balls and surrounded by various mini-golf courses. A waterfall glistened nearby, adding to the whimsical atmosphere.
"You ready?" Kol asked, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Yep! The first course is over there, right?" I pointed toward the closest one.
"That's the one," he confirmed with a sly grin. "But just so you know, I'm pretty good at this. Don't cry when you lose."
I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "Don't be too upset when you lose to me." I stuck out my tongue for good measure.
We started at the first course. Kol went first, swinging his club and sending his neon pink ball under a miniature bridge. It rolled neatly into the corner.
"Ha!" he exclaimed, doing a little jump. "I'm only two inches away from the hole," he whispered smugly in my ear.
I shoved him playfully as I lined up my shot. My ball glided under the bridge, but instead of stopping near the hole, it knocked Kol's ball straight in—and mine rolled even farther away.
"Ugh!" I groaned, glaring at my pathetic green ball.
Behind me, Kol burst into laughter. After two more tries, I finally managed to sink my ball.
As we moved through the courses, Kol consistently outplayed me, getting hole after hole in one. Meanwhile, I struggled, much to his amusement.
Finally, we reached the last three courses.
"This time, I'll let you go first," Kol teased, gesturing dramatically. "You know, since it takes you longer."
I rolled my eyes and kicked his foot lightly, smiling in satisfaction when he hissed in pain.
I set my ball on the artificial grass, lined up my club, and swung. The ball flew high into the air, landing inside one of the Ferris wheel carriages. We both watched as it traveled all the way to the top before rolling down and stopping just on the edge of the hole.
Kol burst out laughing, leaning his head on my shoulder for support. Muttering a quick spell under my breath, I flicked my wrist discreetly. The ball tipped over and dropped into the hole.
"See? Look before you laugh," I said smugly, folding my arms as I shook him off.
Kol's laughter died down as he stared at the ball in the hole, then back at me. "You cheated," he accused.
"I did no such thing," I said, feigning innocence as I looked away.
"Hmm." He stepped closer, his expression turning devilish. His hands slid to my waist, and he leaned in slightly, his gaze flicking to my lips. "Are you sure you didn't cheat?" he asked softly.
I stammered, my resolve faltering, and gently pushed him back. "Fine! I cheated," I admitted. "But only because I'm tired of hearing your voice."
Kol grinned. "You know you love my voice, darling." He bent down to retrieve his ball, giving me an unintentional view of his perfect backside.
Rolling my eyes, I watched as he tapped his ball effortlessly past the Ferris wheel and into the hole.
"Show-off," I muttered.
Kol retrieved both our balls and led the way to the final course. Ahead was a glowing tunnel filled with neon lights and arrows. At the end, a sign read: Last Hole.
"Alright," Kol said, setting my ball down. "I'm going to teach you for next time."
Before I could protest, he pulled me in front of him, his hands settling on my waist. My back pressed against his chest as we both held the club.
"Oh, so there's going to be another date?" I teased, glancing over my shoulder.
"I'd hope so," he whispered.
Kol steadied me, lining up my club with the ball. "Let's try a practice swing," he instructed. Guiding my hands, he helped me pull the club back and swing forward without hitting the ball.
"Try to scrape the ball, not smash it," he chuckled.
"Yes, teacher," I said, dripping with sarcasm.
"I like the sound of that," he murmured, stepping closer until his hips brushed against mine.
Flustered, I spun around and pushed him back. "Okay, I think I've got it now," I said quickly.
Kol raised his hands in surrender, smirking. "Alright, show me what you've got."
Focusing, I steadied my feet, bent my knees, and lined up the shot. Taking a deep breath, I swung.
The ball rolled through the glowing tunnel, past the waterfall, and into the hole.
"Yes!" I screamed, jumping up and down. "Did you see that?"
Kol laughed, clapping. "Finally!" He picked me up, spinning me around as I shrieked in surprise.
When he set me down, our eyes met, and my heart pounded in my chest. Before I could say a word, Kol leaned in and gave me a soft, fleeting kiss on the lips.
I stood there, stunned, my fingers brushing my mouth.
"Come on, Davina," he said with a laugh, already heading to swing his club.
Snapping out of it, I turned to him with a smile. "Yeah?"
"Since we're done here, how about we grab a bite?" he suggested, holding out his hand.
"That sounds great," I said, slipping my hand into his.
After returning our golf clubs, we headed to the car. The clock read midnight, and the streets were quiet.
"Where should we go?" Kol asked, scrolling through his phone for nearby restaurants.
"It's pretty late, so there won't be many places open. I could cook something at my house, if you're okay with that," I offered hesitantly.
Kol's face lit up. "That sounds perfect."
As he drove us to my house, I glanced at my phone, brainstorming what to cook. A nervous smile crept onto my face.
"What am I going to make for us?" I whispered to myself.
