Klaus's POV
I pushed through the crowd of dancing students, heading toward the back door where I had just seen Mikael. My eyes scanned the area, but he was already gone.
Marcel and Rebekah approached me.
"What's wrong?" Rebekah asked.
"I saw Mikael over here," I said, still searching the room for any trace of him.
"Alright, then let's go find him," Marcel said, his tone steady.
I glanced over at Tara, who was chatting with Davina. Before I could say anything, Rebekah stepped in front of me, blocking my view.
"Elijah is here. She'll be safe," she said firmly. "Now let's go." Her voice barely carried over the pounding bass of the music.
Reluctantly, I followed Rebekah and Marcel, stealing one last glance at Tara before the doors closed behind us.
⸻
Tara's POV
I was deep in conversation with Davina when Elijah appeared behind us, looking striking in his sharp gray suit.
"Hello," he greeted, his voice smooth as always.
"Would you like to dance?" he asked, offering his hand.
"Sure," I replied, taking his hand as we moved to the dance floor.
The music slowed, and couples began swaying to the rhythm. Elijah gently pulled me closer, one hand resting on my waist while the other held mine securely.
"So, now you've decided to talk to me," I said, glancing away to watch Kol and Davina dancing nearby.
"I'm sorry for staying distant," Elijah said, his voice low as he leaned closer, his face brushing the crook of my neck. "I had some matters to handle."
"Well, I hope from now on we can start talking again—maybe even read some books together," I murmured.
Elijah pulled back slightly, his expression unreadable. Then, with a smooth motion, he spun me out and twirled me back into his arms just as the song ended.
"I'm going to get something to drink," I said, slightly out of breath.
"Go ahead. I'll be right here," Elijah said, a faint blush on his face.

Klaus's POV
We moved through the hallway, passing rows of lockers.
"Where could he be?" Marcel asked, stopping at the fork in the corridor.
"Wait," I said, holding up a hand. "I hear something."
I led the way down the hall, the others following as the overhead lights flickered ominously. At the end of the corridor, a classroom door stood ajar.
We approached cautiously, stepping inside. The room was pitch-black, and before we could react, the door slammed shut behind us.
Out of the shadows, ten witches emerged, surrounding us.
"So, are we really doing this?" Marcel asked with a cocky grin.
"You walked right into her trap," one of the witches sneered. "She said you were dumb enough to fall for it."
"You mean your so-called 'cult leader,'" I replied with a laugh. The witch's jaw tightened, his teeth grinding audibly.
They began chanting, and the three of us dropped to our knees, clutching our heads in agony.
"You thought you could stop us," another witch taunted. "By now, Mikael has already gotten to your girl."
Fury coursed through me, and my vampire instincts took over. My eyes turned amber, and my canines elongated. Despite the pressure keeping us down, I grabbed a nearby chair and hurled it, knocking out three witches.
"KEEP CHANTING!" one of them screamed.
But their spell was weakening. Rebekah moved in a flash, snapping two witches' necks. Marcel took down another with a solid punch, sending them crashing into another witch.
I grabbed the last two by their robes and ripped their hearts out in one swift motion, throwing the remains to the floor.
The final witch backed away, trembling. "Please, don't do this," he begged.
I grabbed him by his robe and lifted him off the ground. "Where is Mikael taking her?" I demanded.
"You're going to kill me anyway," he said with a twisted grin. "Even if you find her, there are more of us."
"Fine," I said coldly. I plunged my hand through his chest, silencing him.
As his lifeless body hit the floor, I stormed out of the room, kicking a wall in frustration and leaving a massive dent. I took off running toward the gym, Rebekah and Marcel close behind.
⸻
Tara's POV
The guy serving punch handed me a cup, but as I turned, I bumped into an older man.
"Oh, sorry," I said with a polite smile, trying to step around him.
He blocked my way.
"Excuse me," I said, irritation creeping into my voice.
Before I could react, he grabbed my arm, making me drop my drink. In the blink of an eye, everything blurred as he dragged me into the hallway.
"What are you doing?" I growled, trying to pull free.
He didn't respond, continuing to drag me toward a door at the back of the school.
"You're hurting me!" I cried, panic rising in my chest.
⸻
Elijah's POV
I approached the punch table, scanning the room for Tara.
"She's gone," I muttered, turning to Kol and Davina, who both looked concerned.
We hurried into the hallway.
"Nik is going to dagger you," Kol said nervously.
We rounded a corner and ran straight into Klaus.
"I already know," Klaus said before we could explain. His voice was tense. "One of the witches said Mikael is taking her somewhere."
"He's going to kill her," Rebekah said, her voice trembling.
We burst through the doors leading outside and froze. About thirty witches stood in formation, and behind them was Tara, struggling in Mikael's grip.
"Well, if it isn't the bastard child," Mikael said with a mocking smile.
I didn't wait for Klaus to react. I lunged forward, knocking two witches to the ground and stomping on their necks.
Rebekah snapped another's neck, and Marcel delivered a brutal punch, breaking another witch's nose.
Elijah calmly removed his suit jacket and tossed it to the ground. As the witches began chanting, Davina stepped forward. She raised her hands, and ten witches immediately collapsed to their knees, blood streaming from their eyes and mouths as they choked.
"I'm going to marry her," Kol muttered under his breath, just loud enough for me to hear.
