Klaus's POV

I rose from my seat and walked over to Tara. Pressing a kiss to her head, I whispered, "I'll be back, my love." I followed Elijah out of the dining room and into the hallway leading to the parlor.

"What's wrong, Elijah?"

"What's wrong?" he repeated, his voice sharp. "What's wrong is the uproar you caused at the club last night. Someone sent me this." He held up his phone, displaying a picture of Tara dancing with Rebekah. The accompanying message read: We're coming for her.

"Bloody hell," I muttered under my breath. "It's probably her parents."

"Her parents?" Elijah asked, his tone incredulous.

"Yes. I warned them to stay away from her, but apparently, they don't listen. Find them, Elijah, and kill them," I growled.

"If it is her parents, why would you want to kill them? If Tara ever regains—"

"She will never regain her memories!" I snapped, cutting him off.

Elijah glared at me, defiance in his eyes. "I won't kill her parents."

I scoffed, a bitter smile tugging at my lips. "Of course you won't. You want me to be the villain so she'll run to you instead. Don't think I haven't noticed the way you look at her, brother. Your eyes drip with lust every time you gaze upon my woman."

With that, I turned on my heel and walked away, leaving the conversation unfinished. If Elijah wouldn't handle the matter, I would find someone else who would.

When I returned to the dining room, I took my seat again and smiled at Tara. "So, what did I miss?"

"Rebekah and I decided she'll drive me to Davina's house so we can study," Tara said.

I shook my head, smiling. "Why don't you just stay here? If you need help, I can arrange for a tutor." I reached for her hand, gently rubbing it as I spoke.

"I also want to hang out with Davina. So, no tutor needed," she replied with a smile.

"How about Davina comes here to study?" I suggested, intertwining our fingers.

Tara glanced at our joined hands, then back at me. "Davina doesn't really like coming over here, so... can I go?" she asked, her cheeks flushing.

I sighed. "Fine."

Her face lit up with a smile. We continued eating, making light conversation until Tara and Rebekah finished their meals and ran off to Tara's—and my—bedroom.

I turned to Marcel, lowering my voice. "I need you to bring me a vampire you trust. Have them follow Tara and make sure no one gets near her. But tell them to be discreet."

Marcel nodded, and I rose, tossing my napkin onto my plate before leaving the room.

Tara's POV

I finished getting ready and met Rebekah downstairs.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, Klaus was waiting for me. He wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me close. "Stay safe, okay? Don't go anywhere but Davina's house." His gaze flicked to Rebekah behind me.

I smiled up at him. "Okay, we won't. Now I've got to go."

Klaus kissed my forehead before letting me go.

Rebekah and I climbed into her car and headed to Davina's house. When we arrived, we stepped out, and Rebekah rang the doorbell.

Davina opened the door, looking exhausted. "Finally, you're here," she said with a tired smile.

Davina's house was charming, painted blue with French windows and a small garden in the front. She shared it with Josh. Inside her room, we sat on her bed, surrounded by white decor, candles, and spell books.

"So, how did last night go?" Davina asked, glancing between Rebekah and me.

We launched into an explanation, recounting everything.

Unknown POV – Diego

Marcel called me to watch over Klaus's girl. Although I despise Klaus, I owe Marcel my life. I parked outside Davina's house, keeping a close watch.

I'd been sitting there for over an hour when I heard movement. Someone was running. A man leapt over the gated fence, his movements quick and deliberate. I stepped out of the car, circling around to intercept him.

When I reached the back of the house, I saw him standing near a window, muttering something under his breath. He was tall, with dark brown hair, pale skin, and strange tattoos on his face—definitely a witch.

I moved quickly, grabbing him by the neck. He struggled, gasping for air, but his strength was no match for mine. That is, until he headbutted me, sending me stumbling backward.

The pain flared, but I gritted my teeth and stood, ready to attack again. The witch smirked, tilting his head mockingly. I lunged, but he began chanting a spell, freezing me in place.

The pressure in my head was unbearable, but I forced myself to focus. When he turned his attention away for a moment, I lunged, knocking him unconscious.

Hearing footsteps near the window, I grabbed the witch and used my vampire speed to flee before anyone saw me.

Davina's POV

"I swear I heard something," Tara said, looking up from her textbook.

"I didn't hear anything," Rebekah replied firmly, scrolling through her phone.

Then we heard a deep grunt. I got up from the bed and went to the window, opening it to scan the yard. Nothing seemed out of place.

"I guess we were just imagining things," I said, forcing a nervous smile.

"Yeah," Tara murmured, her voice uncertain.
