Unknown POV
"Keep following them."
"Yes, ma'am."
I watched them settle into their seats. Klaus wrapped his arm around the girl's neck, pulling her close.
Two hours later, the movie ended. The lights came on and they walked out together.
The girl headed into the restroom while Klaus stepped aside to take a phone call.
"That's all the information you could find?!" he yelled, then dropped his voice to a hushed tone. When the girl came out, he hung up.
I trailed them from a distance as they left the theater and walked to their car.
Back in my own vehicle, I reached into the back seat and pulled out a box. Inside was a small phone and a drone. I powered it on and sent it into the air. Once my phone connected, I could see Klaus and the girl getting into their car.
As they pulled out of the parking spot, I started my engine—only for the drone feed to suddenly glitch. The video showed the drone jerking, then falling to the ground. A blonde woman appeared on the screen, holding the controller.
The feed cut out, but not before I saw a black stiletto crush the camera lens.
They're here, I thought.
My hand tightened on the gear shift—
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a British voice said beside me.
I turned to see a woman with mid-length blonde hair holding my door open.
"Take your keys out of the ignition," she said with a pleasant smile.
My hands shook as I obeyed. A knock came at my window.
The woman who had destroyed my drone stood there.
"Open the door," she said, her voice muffled through the glass.
I glanced at the woman in the passenger seat. She gave me a nod and unlocked the door for her.
The door swung open and the second woman stepped in, slightly out of breath.
"You raced off here and left me. Now I'm tired and ready to go home, Rebekah," she sighed, clearly annoyed.
"I don't know anything," I stammered.
The short-haired blonde rolled her eyes.
"Love, we know you were sent here by Tara's parents," the mid-length blonde—Freya—said.
I stayed silent.
"We don't have time for this," the other woman muttered.
"Fine," Freya replied.
The next thing I knew, my forehead slammed into the steering wheel—once, twice—until darkness swallowed me.

Freya's POV
"You've knocked him out—now what?" I asked.
"I'll get the car. We need to be home before Nik does," Rebekah said.
She parked beside the other vehicle, blocking it in. I climbed into the passenger seat while she hauled the unconscious man over her shoulder and tossed him into the trunk with a heavy thud.

Flashback
"You think someone's watching you both?" Rebekah asked.
I narrowed my eyes. "I wouldn't be surprised."
"Then lure them out. Take Tara somewhere and see if they follow you," I suggested, folding my arms.
"You can take her after her dress fitting," Rebekah added, heading for the door.
"Fine."

Klaus' POV
Tara leaned out the window, smiling up at the sky. The sunlight kissed her skin, and I couldn't help but picture what our children might look like—five, maybe more, all with her beauty.
"Klaus, I'm hungry," she whined, resting her chin in her hands on the armrest.
"Where do you want to go?" I asked, grinning. I should thank my sister for teaching her how to be this adorable.
"McDonald's."
I sighed, but drove toward the golden arches. Two traffic lights later, we were in the drive-thru, ordering. We parked to eat.
"So... Nik," Tara said, and my eyes widened at the nickname. "I was wondering if you wanted to come to the dance with me."
I smirked, leaning against the window. "I thought that was already established, my love. Who else would you go with?"
She ducked her head, finishing her fries.
When we were done, I took our trash to the bin. On the way back, I spotted a guy at Tara's window. He was smiling at her—lustfully.
"Who are you, Tara's uncle?" he joked, leaning on the window.
"No. Who are you?" I asked, voice low and fists clenched.
He laughed nervously when my eyes darkened. "I'm... one of Tara's classmates."
I looked at Tara, who leaned farther back in her seat.
"Come here. Let's talk privately," I said with a smile that didn't reach my eyes.
He stepped in front of the car, back turned so Tara couldn't read our lips. I gripped his shoulder.
"If you so much as look at her again, I will kill you. Tell your friends, too. Goodbye."
The boy paled and ran. I walked back, sliding into the driver's seat.
"What did you say to him?" Tara demanded.
I pressed a finger to my lips. "It's a secret."
Her pout made me chuckle.
"Let's go home," I said, already thinking about the man Rebekah and Freya had caught.
