Klaus's POV
I lay in bed with Tara, holding her tightly. She hadn't woken up since last night. As the sun rose, light filtered into the room, bathing us in a warm glow. Tara began to stir, her eyes fluttering open. She sat up slowly, looking around with a curious, almost unfamiliar expression.I sat up beside her, brushing her hair back gently, my voice low with worry.
"I'm so sorry," I whispered. Her eyes locked onto mine, wide with confusion. "Where am I? And... who are you?" she asked, shrinking away from my touch.
I froze, disbelief washing over me. Without answering, I stood and left the room, my voice echoing through the hallway as I called out, "FREYA!"
Moments later, Freya emerged from her room, rubbing her eyes and clearly annoyed.
"What is it, Klaus? It's far too early for you to be barking orders at me. Shouldn't you be with Tara?""That's the problem," I said, my voice low. "She's lost her memory. Of me—and, I think, everything else."
Freya's expression shifted instantly, her irritation replaced with concern. "You're serious?"
"Yes. Come check her and see for yourself."
We returned to the room, where Tara sat on the bed, looking utterly lost. Freya approached her cautiously.
"Tara, do you know who I am?" Freya asked.Tara shook her head. "No."
Freya turned to me, gripping my arm as she pulled me into the corner. "I'm not a doctor, Klaus. But I can get Keelin."
"Fine, but hurry," I said through gritted teeth.
Freya left and soon returned with Keelin, who waddled into the room, her pregnant belly preceding her. Keelin examined Tara carefully, using her light pen to check her eyes and responses. When she finished, her face was grim.
"She's definitely lost her memory," Keelin said softly. "I don't recommend trying to force her to remember. It could make things worse. Her brain is likely protecting her by blocking out whatever caused her trauma. Any attempts to jog her memory could fracture her mind further."
I nodded stiffly.
Freya gave me a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. "And Klaus, next time, don't wake us up like this. Either take her to the hospital or hire a personal doctor. Keelin hasn't been sleeping well because of the pregnancy."
Keelin chimed in, her tone somber. "For now, just focus on keeping her happy and stable. Don't push her."
"Understood," I said shortly.
I walked back to Tara and sat beside her on the bed. She looked puzzled as I gently touched her cheek. This was my chance to start over.
"Can you tell me who you are? Where am I? And who were those two women?" Tara asked, her voice small.
"I'm your boyfriend," I said softly. "You had a little accident—you slipped in the tub and hit your head. That's why you lost some of your memory, love."
Her brows furrowed as she studied me. "I remember you're a hybrid. And that your family are the Originals—vampires. I remember Josh and Davina... and going to school."
"That's a good start," I said with a reassuring smile. "Why don't we get you something to eat, love?"
"Okay," she said quietly.
I helped her down the stairs, moving slowly. We sat at the dining table together, Tara eating in silence while I sipped on blood. The quiet wasn't tense like it usually was when she was upset with me—it was peaceful.
After lunch, I guided her back upstairs. As we ascended, Rebekah and Marcel emerged from their room. Tara smiled at them warmly, a stark contrast to her usual death glares.
"I'll speak with you both in a moment," I told them, steering Tara toward our room.
Once inside, Tara stood by the bedside table, staring at the clock.
"Can I ask you some questions?" she said hesitantly.
"Of course," I replied, watching her carefully.
"How old am I?"
"Nineteen . You'll be twenty in three months," I answered.
Her gaze shifted to an unfinished painting on the wall. "Where are my parents?"
"They passed away when you were young," I lied, keeping my tone gentle.
"Oh," she said softly, her voice cracking slightly.
A heavy silence followed before she spoke again. "How... did we meet?"
I smiled, trying to sound casual. "I was traveling, looking for something. I found you, and we fell in love. I brought you here to be with me."
Her lips curved into a faint smile. "That explains why I feel so comfortable around you," she murmured.
I took her hand and kissed her forehead. "I need to go speak with Rebekah and Marcel. You stay here and rest, alright?"
"Okay," she nodded.
I watched her climb into bed and pull the covers over herself before quietly closing the door. Peeking back in, I saw her lying still, eyes closed.

In the Courtyard
As I entered, my siblings were already gathered, their expressions demanding answers."Klaus, what the bloody hell is going on?" Rebekah demanded. "Why is Tara smiling at us? She's been glaring daggers for weeks!"
Rolling my eyes, I addressed them all at once. "Since you're all here, I might as well tell you—Tara has lost her memory."
"What?" Elijah said sharply.
"How?" Kol asked, exasperated.
Freya stepped forward. "She tried to drown herself in the bathtub. She didn't get enough oxygen to her brain, which caused her to lose some of her memories. Psychologically, it's likely her mind is suppressing trauma."
I stepped closer to Freya, my eyes narrowing, but Keelin immediately placed herself between us.
"From now on, no one mentions her past," I ordered. "Rebekah, the wedding is still on."
Without waiting for a response, I left them in the courtyard and returned to the room.

Back in the Room
When I entered, Tara was curled up in bed, buried under the blankets. I slipped under the covers beside her, gently pulling her closer. She stirred in her sleep, shivering slightly before instinctively rolling into my arms. I held her tightly, her warmth grounding me.
I wanted to stay like this forever.
