Tara's POV
I opened my eyes to find Klaus staring at me.

"Stop staring. I look horrible," I muttered, covering my face with my hands.

"I think you look beautiful, my love," he replied, smirking. "Like the sun breaking into the sky at dawn."

I blushed, quickly getting out of bed and heading toward the restroom. Before I could reach the door, Klaus slipped behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. I leaned back against his chest, looking up at him.

"I'm hungry," I admitted.

"So am I," he murmured, his voice low. Before I could react, his fangs sank into my neck.

I gasped, the sharp pain making me grip his arm tightly. "Klaus!" I groaned, panting as he fed.

Moments later, he withdrew, licking the puncture wounds. "I'm sorry," he said, offering his arm to me. "Here, take some of my blood."

I hesitated but leaned in, drinking the few drops that trickled from his arm. The metallic taste was unpleasant, but the pain in my neck quickly disappeared as the wound healed.

"That's better," I said, nudging his stomach with my elbow. He coughed, stepping back as I smirked. Without another word, I slipped into the bathroom and locked the door.

Thirty minutes later, I emerged freshly showered, dressed in a black skirt and a white T-shirt.

Klaus's POV
She looked stunning, even in something so simple.

"Come on, Klaus. I'm ready to eat," she said, smiling as she opened the door.

I followed her downstairs to the dining room, where Davina, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, and Marcel were already waiting.

"Finally," Rebekah huffed. "We've been waiting for you two to come down."

"I came to get you earlier, but Klaus wouldn't let me wake you," Davina pouted.

Tara walked over to Davina, hugging her from behind. "I'm sorry. If I'd known, I would've gotten up sooner," she said, throwing me a scolding look before taking a seat next to Davina. I sat at the head of the table.

The maids brought in breakfast dishes, and I started cutting into my pancakes. "So, Davina, where did you sleep last night?" I asked casually.

"With me," Kol answered with a wide grin.

Tara choked on her food, glancing at Davina with wide eyes.

"It's not what you think!" Davina said quickly, her voice higher than usual. "We just slept in the same room."

"You mean the same bed," Kol added, taking her hand in his.

Davina yanked her hand away, glaring at him. "Only because you put me there!" she snapped.

Kol laughed nervously, glancing around the table.

"There's nothing to be ashamed of," Rebekah said with a mischievous smile.

"I'm not ashamed because nothing happened!" Davina growled through clenched teeth.

"They're both consenting adults," Elijah said calmly, dabbing his mouth with a napkin.

After breakfast, I stood and addressed Tara. "I need to handle some business. Stay in the compound with Davina. I'll be back soon."

She nodded, and I leaned down to kiss her softly on the lips.

Kol stood and stretched. "I'm leaving too. Don't I get a kiss?" he teased, looking at Davina.

Davina rolled her eyes and flipped him off.

"You'll miss me," Kol said with a grin, following me out.

Tara's POV
"Ugh, he gets on my last nerve," Davina muttered, her forehead creased in frustration.

"I think you two are cute together," I teased. "You said you liked him."

"I mean, I do, but he frustrates me. It's like he knows I like him, but I don't want to seem too eager," she admitted.

"You're not being too eager. But if you're not careful, someone else might swoop in and take him," I pointed out.

"That's true," she said with a small sigh.

Klaus's POV
"Are you really going to kill him, Klaus?" Kol asked as we walked to the cellar.

"He's done too much for me not to," I replied.

When we arrived, Elijah and Rebekah were already there, standing outside the cell.

"I know he's a monster, Nik, but I don't think we should kill him," Rebekah said, crossing her arms.

I laughed bitterly. "Not kill him? He chased us for nearly a century, trying to destroy us. He almost killed Tara! And you don't think I should end him?"

Rebekah looked down, while Elijah regarded me with a look of pity.

I entered the cell to find Mikael shackled to the wall. He looked up and smirked. "The bastard has come to finish me off," he sneered.

Before I could respond, Freya's voice rang out behind me. "Please, Niklaus, don't do this!"

I turned to see her standing there, tears streaming down her face.

"She's right," Elijah added. "We might need him in the future."

I exhaled sharply. "Fine. He stays locked up and vervained." I looked at Freya. "But if he steps out of line, I will end him."

I left the cell and walked to the next one. Inside, Tara's parents sat huddled on the floor, holding each other. They didn't even look up as I entered.

A vampire brought in two plates of food—bread and pasta—and placed them on the floor.

"Eat," I said coldly before slamming and locking the door behind me.

As I climbed the stairs, Elijah's curious gaze followed me.

"What's got you all giddy?" he asked.

"Nothing," I muttered, but my thoughts betrayed me.

Tara is mine, and no one will ever hurt or take her away from me.
