Tara's POV
It's been two days, and everything feels relatively normal—except for Davina and Kol. Davina insists I jinxed her because Kol has been spending time with some woman. She doesn't speak to me about it much, but Kol mentioned her while driving us home earlier.Currently, I'm in my room with Davina, listening to her rant about Kol.
"I'm not jealous at all," she declared, pacing from one side of the room to the other. "It's just... that girl needs to get her gross meat paws off Kol. And honestly? She's a cougar! She's, like, 40!"
I glanced up from my computer. "You know Kol is, like, a thousand years old, right?"
She stopped pacing, hands on her hips, and gave me a look. "Still. She should just... go," she said with a huff.
"Why don't you just tell him you like him?" I sighed, finishing the last of my assignments.
Davina flopped onto the bed. "I don't want to tell him. What if he's dating her?"
I set my pen down and moved to sit beside her. "I think he's into you. Just tell him, and then you can go live your happily-ever-after."
She smiled faintly and stood up. "Alright, I'll do it."
"Good! He's probably in his room right now," I encouraged.
"Oh, not today," she said quickly, grabbing her book bag.
I groaned, covering my face with my hands. "What?!"
"I need to make sure I look good when I confess!" she said with a laugh.
We both chuckled as I walked her to the door. Just as I opened it, Kol appeared in the hallway.
"Hello, ladies," he called from the staircase.
Davina brushed past him without a word.
"What's wrong?" Kol asked, frowning.
"Nothing," Davina replied, her tone clipped.
At the base of the stairs, Kol turned her to face him. "What do you want, Kol?" she snapped. "Shouldn't you be with your... friend?"
Kol smirked. "Oh? Are you jealous?"
Davina scoffed, crossing her arms. "No. Why would I be jealous of some old lady?"
Kol tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, his gaze soft. "She's just a friend. You know what I'd really love?"
"What?" Davina asked, her voice quieter now.
"You. On a date with me," he said, kissing her hand with a grin.
Davina groaned, but a small smile crept onto her face. "I guess."
"How about tomorrow?" Kol asked as they started walking toward the exit.
"That works," Davina replied, flashing me a wink before disappearing from view with Kol.
I turned around and nearly jumped when I saw Klaus standing in front of me, grinning.
He scooped me up bridal style, making me gasp. "Put me down!" I laughed, swatting at him.
"Nope," he said, carrying me into our room and closing the door behind us.
Once inside, he gently set me down. "I was thinking," he began, holding my hands, "it's been a while since we went on a date. What do you think?"
"You're right. Got anything in mind?" I asked curiously.
"There's a festival today, not far from the market. I think you'll love it," he said with a smile.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my head. I saw flashes of myself yelling at someone, then being choked against a wall.
"Tara!" Klaus shouted, his voice pulling me back to reality.
I blinked, shaking my head. "Sorry, I just spaced out for a second," I said quickly, forcing a smile. "The festival sounds fun. Let me get dressed."
I went into the closet and chose a pair of blue jeans, a fitted black long-sleeve shirt, black boots, and a black fur jacket.

Klaus's POV
As I made my way downstairs, I spotted Marcel leaning casually in the corner."Did you get what I asked for?" I whispered.
"Of course," Marcel replied, pulling a small box from his pocket and handing it to me.
I quickly hid the box as Tara appeared at the top of the staircase. "You ready?" she asked, descending with a smile.
"Yes," I replied, slipping the box into my back pocket.
We left the house hand-in-hand, both grinning.
"Be careful, kids!" Marcel called after us.
Tara laughed as I opened the car door for her. Once she was seated, I got behind the wheel and started the engine.
"I'm excited about the festival," Tara said, her enthusiasm infectious.
"There's been a slight change of plans," I said, resting a hand on her thigh.
She narrowed her eyes playfully. "Nothing scary, right?"
I raised my hands in mock surrender. "I promise you'll love it," I said before giving her a quick kiss.
I drove past the bayou, deep into the forest, and parked the car in a clearing.
"Klaus, where are we?" Tara asked, squinting at the unfamiliar surroundings.
"Come on," I said, opening my door.
We walked down a dirt path until we reached a secluded clearing, where I had set up a picnic.
"This is beautiful," Tara said softly, her eyes wide with wonder.
She sat down on the blanket as I poured champagne into two glasses. We clinked our glasses together and sipped.
"Could you grab a napkin from the basket?" I asked.
As she turned to look in the basket, I took out the small box and got down on one knee.
When Tara turned back, her gaze shifted from my face to the ring in the open box. Her hand flew to her mouth, her eyes welling with tears.
"Will you marry me?" I asked, smiling.
For a moment, her expression was unreadable, but then she whispered the words I had dreamed of hearing.
"Yes!"
