His memory's go back to their first concert tour.
The Kickstarter had been successful, so they could go on tour!
They were beside themselves. TwoSet had a legit tour!
As far as he knew, no classical musician had ever done it this way.
It was AwEsOmE!
And they had managed it in just 5 days. He was so proud!
But the money hadn't been enough for what they wanted to achieve. To safe cost they had decided to rent 1 hotel room instead of two.
They were best friends, so what could possibly go wrong. Right?
But being around each other 24/7 made it all different from before. They were so focused and relying on each other.
It's a fact that he had always been extra happy around Eddy.
More courageous. More wacky, in a fun way.
So that is why he had always tried to be with him anyway since they met at the age of 14. The energy generated between them is why TwoSet became so popular. He could be his outgoing, awkward nerdy self around him. And vice versa.
Eddy was a lot less introverted when he was with him. So it really was a win-win situation.
He hears so often that everyone's jealous of their friendship and see it as the highest achievement in life to have this what they have together.
And Brett didn't know when his feeling really changed, but it was sometime early in that tour. Maybe because it was all so intense? And sleep deprivation of course.
The night they had finished the Kickstarter he had truly meant the 'I love you Eddy' he spoke to his partner in crime. They were so emotional, happy and exhausted. It was just natural. The words spoken out loud felt suddenly so true. And Eddy had said it back, while crying on his shoulder no less.
But it was only because of the exhaustion and emotions, right?
They had hugged each other more times before and after. That is what friends do.
So everything was fine, right?
They made all the preparations to go as quickly as possible and went off to conquer the world.
Brett had made most of the bookings because, let's just face it, he is just better at arranging things like this.
They set of and everything on tour was great, except for the occasional nitwit at the venues and some trouble shooting that is expected when you travel.
As long as they had their violins, everything had worked out. Meeting their fans, playing their heart out.
It was grand and wonderful!
He was so happy to be in the company of Eddy all the time. He loved it. Basked in it.
And maybe a little bit more than he dared to admit at that time, but that was locked up and away safely in his heart. It didn't bother him either really. He had experienced these feelings on and off with episodes before, but always below surface. He didn't even want to dig deeper because he didn't want any trouble.
And touring was fun, but also tiring enough, so he even didn't have room to really think about it. He was definitely happy. And he believed Eddy was too.
But still...
It started on a certain night when they had been in a bar.
They had 2 nights off before the next concert, so they had decided to have a drink. Maybe a couple actually. They were prepared for a hangover the next morning, the rest of the day time for recovery and practicing, a goodnight sleep and then the next day a awesome concert.
You have to be a professional, thank you very much, so they have to choose when it's okay to let go of the reins.
It was fun. Laughing and drinking together with fans, friends and staff.
They were both quite tipsy, when they left the bar. More honestly: they were actually pretty drunk. Brett supported Eddy to the hotel room, both swaying from right to left, giggling and laughing like crazy, taking twice as much time to get there in comparison what it sober state would.
"Did you see that meme? I'd forgotten how crazy that was." Eddy said with a slight slur.
They both laughed as Brett tried to unlock the room, unsuccessfully.
"Oh God, this is so hard! The spot is too small!" Brett laughed.
"Let me try Bretty boy, I've never have shaky hands." *giggle*
"Yeah in your dreams, mister -I invented that F*ing- Shaky bow."
Their hands fought over who could hold the key to try next until they looked in each other's eyes and with a nod decided to hold it both, Eddy's hands over Brett's and managed it to stabilize it enough to finally let the door go *beep*.
