Carla's POV
I was stuck in a dark room that had a window on the other side of the room letting some sunlight into a light blue room. I was trying to steady my breathing, but it was getting harder with the sharp pain coming from my side after being cut. I wasn't sure how bad it was and I didn't want to look at my side feeling something wet and sticky on my arm. I was trying to focus on one spot to get my eyes to focus, but I couldn't and I felt as if the room was moving around me.
There was something cold on my wrists and ankles as I tried moving. I stopped and shut my eyes, taking a deep breath. My stomach growled and I swallowed, I didn't know when the last time I ate was, but my stomach felt like it was empty.
Think of anything, I told myself, literally anything else than what's going on right now. I let out a breath as Mom came to mind, I just hoped that she was alright. Something happened to her before I was taken and brought here, but I was scared that she wasn't going to be okay.
I let out a breath, something else, something else to think of.... Derek. I've known Derek since I was four years old and remembered the new book he had gotten me for my birthday sometime a few days ago. I was so excited about a book that I started jumping up and down while all he could do was laugh at me. He was just glad he remembered what book I had asked fo-
Something slammed in the next room and I flinched, shutting my eyes tightly and holding my breath, please, please, please, don't come back in here. The door opened and slammed shut, "Open your eyes, you brat," a man said, I ignored him, which in hindsight was stupidity. He hit the bed frame, "I know you're awake," he said, I opened my eyes, gulping. He glared at me and grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him, "No one wanted you here, you bitch, and no one ever will. You are a useless waste of space and no one is going to come for you."
I shook my head, I couldn't believe it, "Y-you're wrong," it didn't come out that loud, but he still heard it.
He glared at me as he grabbed something then grabbed my right arm, putting a blade against my skin. I shut my eyes tightly, swallowing hard, when there was banging on the front door. He let go of me, letting out a breath, "I'll be back and then I'm finishing this," he told me, leaving the room.
The next bit was a blur, the next person to walk in was Cynthia, "Carla," she asked, I shook my head. It couldn't be her, she had to be with Mom, making sure she was okay, "Carla, it's me," she said, I looked at her as she climbed up to look at me.
Her jaw dropped as I sniffed, "Oh, Carls," she whispered, shaking her head, she looked at my wrists and ankles. "Do you know where the keys are," she asked, I shook my head as tears started falling down my cheeks. "Okay, okay, give me a few seconds," she said, climbing down.
The next thing that I knew was that I was being carried out of the house and I shut my eyes tightly from the sudden light. I hid my face in her shoulder as she kissed the top of my head, "I love you, Carls," she told me, softly, before laying me down.
I flinched from my side as I noticed I was by an ambulance, "Hi sweetheart," a paramedic said to me, I looked at her. "We're gonna get you somewhere to clean you up, okay," she asked, I gulped and nodded slowly.
They moved me into the ambulance, the lady and Cynthia getting in with me and shutting the doors. The lady grabbed a needle and filled it with something, "Okay, this'll sting for a second and then you are going to fall asleep," she told me, I shook my head, scared. "Don't worry, sweetheart, you'll be perfectly fine," she promised. I looked at Cynthia as she sniffed.
"You'll be okay, Carls, I swear," she told me, I shook my head as the lady grabbed my arm. I tried to pull away, but I was too tired to try to fight it too much.

I looked at the ceiling above me and found that it was just white, why would you want a room to only be white? I looked to my right to see a large window, showing the sunset and someone walking their dog across the street. I gulped, "Baby," Mom asked, my head snapped in the direction of her voice. "Oh, baby, how are you feeling," she asked, I shrugged slightly, I wanted to sit up, I wanted her to give me a hug.
She paused when I didn't answer her besides shrugging, I noticed the tears in her eyes, "Don't you want to talk," she asked, I shook my head as we heard a knock on the door.
"I'm glad to see that you've woken up," a man said, he was wearing scrubs, so I guess that he's the doctor, I nodded. "Well, you two have visitors, do you want me to let them in," he asked, Mom nodded as I shrugged. "Alright, I'll go get them."
Mom looked at me, "You can talk," she tried telling me, I shook my head as the doctor came back and knocked again.
I looked at the door to see Cynthia, Dalilah, and Derek. Dalilah was Derek's mom and he grinned at me, "Princess," he exclaimed, running over to my bed.
"Ch-charming," I said, forcing a small smile as he bounced on his toes.
"Are you okay," he asked, I nodded. He paused for a second, "Can I have a hug," he asked, I nodded and wrapped my arms around him. He did in return too but was careful not to hit my side. I sniffed and buried my face in his shoulder, "I missed you," he whispered, I nodded.
"I m-missed you too," I mumbled, I finally felt safe enough to relax a little.
