It all started when she was a little girl.

She was walking when she felt like one of those insects on her head, and from there, she got scared.

She could just see a picture of one of them on her phone, and her hands starting to sweat and her eyes watering. Her family and friends never took her seriously.

When she met Harry, she clearly knew about each of his tattoos, especially that giant butterfly on his stomach. She did not care about the tattoo, thinking that she really was not going to see it very closely since they were just friends.

But when he confessed his love to her and they started dating, she knew she would have to face it. Face the huge black wings that were painted on his skin until eternity.

Sadly, he had no idea of her deep fear.

A cold, but hot night inside that house. They both kissed like two hormonal teenagers, waiting to get to something else for the first time. Harry pulled away to whisper on the lips of his girl.

"I can't get enough of you." He sighed and Y/N bit her swollen pink lower lip. "We can do whatever you want, baby." He caressed her cheek.

"Mmh, Harry." She said, and he murmured saying that he heard her "Take off your shirt."

And he didn't waste a second doing it, pulling off his but daddy i love him shirt and tossing it across the room. He wanted to kiss her again, but she pulled away from him, looking at his torso.

His skin glowed in the television light and his tattoos seemed to take on a life of their own thanks to the shadows. She ran her gaze over them, starting with the ones on his collarbone, the birds, the initials of his mother and sister, and so many more that he had.

Looking down a little more, she saw it. So big and perfectly drawn, definitely the best tattoo he ever got.

"No, please." She thought when her hands began to sweat. She could feel it all over her body, she could hear the sound of the wings flying, and she just wanted to get rid of that feeling.

She was so embarrassed, so scared.

"How can you fear something so beautiful?" Her friend laughed at her.

"Bubs, you're okay?" Harry asked her, stroking her hand and putting her out of her mind. "What is it?"

"Harry, i..."

He's just going to laugh at you.

Harry sighed sadly when she looked away from his bare chest. Did she not like him?

"I have Lepidopterophobia." Y/N said out loud.

And her poor boyfriend didn't understand anything.

"And what does that mean?" He asked.

"I'm afraid of butterflies."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

Y/N expected Harry to laugh, or anything except for him to take his shirt and put it back on.

"We can work on it." He replied, stroking her knee gently. "I won't laugh at you, angel."

"Don't you... don't you think I'm a fool for being afraid of something so nice?" She asked, confused.

Never, ever, had she received such an answer. And once again, she fell in love with him.

"Of course not, babe. We can't judge the fear of others." Harry answered immediately, bringing his two hands to her face, to caress both cheeks. "Thank you for telling me, together we will ensure that mine doesn't scare you."

"Thank you, H. You're so good." She answered honestly, swallowing the lump in her throat and hugging him tightly, guilty of having ruined the atmosphere.

"Anything for my best girl."

So that's how they got started with that little "therapy." Harry would walk around the house without a shirt sometimes and Y/N would get less and less nervous at the sight. He always approached her and although it didn't scare her like before, she could not bring her hand to the tattoo.

She felt guilty for not being able to have sex with her boyfriend yet because of her stupid fear, but he assured her that there was nothing wrong, that she would do the same for him.

"Shit." She said, watching from the glass door as on the tree near her backyard a butterfly lay.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Harry!" She turned around scared, watching her boyfriend who was looking at her smiling in love. He was not wearing a shirt because of the hot weather, the tattooed butterfly was shining in the sun. "You scared me."

"I'm sorry, angel." He replied, hugging her tight. "Stop looking outside, I don't like to see you like this."

They both separated and walked hand in hand to the sofa in the living room, where they lay down together. Harry lying flat, Y/N propping herself up on one elbow.

She couldn't stop looking at it.

It looked so good today. So delicate. She wanted to go find the tattoo artist and thank him.

"What's wrong? Do you want me to cover it?" Harry asked, he being the dedicated and perfect boyfriend that he is. He rested his palm on his tattoo, covering it.

"No." She whispered, and before he could react, she took his hand out of there and replaced it with hers "I want to touch it."

Harry sighed as he finally had his love's hand on his stomach, feeling her cold hand against his warm body. Y/N was not much different from him, surprised not to feel her hands sweating with fear, just the pounding of her heart.

She felt the tears pool in her eyes and slide down her cheeks as she smiled in disbelief. This is the furthest she has ever gone.

"Harry... I'm touching your butterfly." She sobbed, and Harry melted at the sight.

"I'm so proud of you." He said, smiling and stroking her hair with one hand, feeling her begin to caress the butterfly. "Baby."

"Mmh?"

"I love you."

Y/N looked up from the tattoo in surprise, the three words had never been said yet.

"I love you too, so much." She kissed his lips tenderly, following her caresses on his tummy. "Thanks for helping me."

"Every time you see it, remember that's what you make me feel, just one look and I feel a million butterflies in my stomach." Harry stroked her lower lip with his thumb, and she kissed it, shaking her head.

"Please don't make me imagine it."

"We still haven't got there, huh?"

They both laughed, and even though neither of them said anything more, she knew that he would continue to help her get through whatever it was.

Because they compliment.

Like the two wings of a butterfly.
