You were feeling good.

You had been so busy lately, had barely had any free time at all, and your friends had been pestering you to go out with them for ages. Tonight you finally allowed yourself to go to one of your friends' birthdays, and boy were you glad of it. You'd missed this. Missed your friends, missed just detaching yourself from your job and your commitments and allowed yourself to fully enjoy it.

You typically rarely even got tipsy, but tonight you'd lost count of the strawberry margaritas. One of your friends was a bartender and he was always a sweetheart and fixed you guys whatever drinks you wanted.

It was a fairly intimate gathering, at Selena's, the birthday girl's place. No more than 17 of you had attended including plus ones, and with the exception of that one guy you could never stand, you were so glad to see everyone and have a great night ahead. You played board games, charades, did karaoke, danced, and got caught up on all the latest gossip.

At one point, Selena had to... retire, having had one too many. Your friends that had driven there and were way too sober had put her to bed in her bedroom at around 2am and now it was past 3 and most everyone had gone home.

When one of your friends came next to you, pulling your karaoke mic away from you amusedly, you looked around and realized you were putting on your best performance for an empty venue.

"Ok, enough strawberry margaritas for you, missy" your friend giggled, trying to pull you away from the tv where the lyrics kept rolling "C'mon, I'll drive you home"

"No, I'm staying, I promised Selena I'd help her clean up tomorrow. Thanks, though" you kissed her cheek and nearly missed, kissing the corner of her mouth instead "Whoops!! Sorry!" you giggled

Your friend raised an eyebrow, amusedly "Mhm. I'll let it slide since you're wasted, but I always knew you had the hots for me"

You gasped "I am not. Talk about unrequited love..."

"Go to bed, Y/N!" your friend headed towards the door when she stopped in her tracks noticing Harry ominously sitting on the sofa "How about you, need a ride?"

"No, 'm good"

Your friend looked back and forth between the two of you and bidding her final goodbyes, left.

Why was he even there anymore? Harry, the one that always got on your nerves. You knew Selena and him hooked up now and then but now she was obviously comatose and it made no sense for him to be hanging around anymore. Literally everyone else had left.

Maybe it was the alcohol, but somehow, it didn't bother you all that much. You were still feeling pretty buzzed and not at all sleepy yet, so you made to grab the mic your friend had placed on the coffee table, but before you could reach it, Harry took it.

"Don't think so. If I have to listen to you butcher another song I'm gonna need more than just the wine and there's nothing left. Your little bartender friend wasted more than half the booze on your fucking margaritas"

"Then why don't you leave?" you scoffed, indignantly

He tutted "Where's your manners, Y/N? You're left to host, Selena is dead to the world. You really gonna kick me out? She's not gonna like the sound of that seeing as how I'm her favourite" he smirked arrogantly and you just rolled your eyes watching him pour himself some wine from a new bottle

"Hardly. A good fuck hardly makes you her favourite"

Just then the song you'd chosen ended and it randomly shuffled to You can leave your hat on, by Joe Cocker.

"She said that, huh?" he smirked and you turned your back at his smug face. Without breaking eye contact, he brought the mic to his lips and began singing "Baby, take off your coat... real slow"
