Holly stand in her boss's office open-mouthed. She had never seen her like this before. Her clothes are mismatched and not in a good way. She opted to wear instant hijab today which is the first time she saw her wearing it since Holly work for her. The only time she saw her boss in an instant hijab before was during the marathon and when they ran together. The black shoes on her feet that she usually wear look different. Holly can't help but cringe a little.
Laila calm herself in her desk by breathing slowly - a yoga breathing technique that she thought Holly whenever everything feels overwhelmed. Holly stand awkwardly - not knowing what to do. She want to say something but she can't mutter a word for fear of making everything worse. Her boss finally speak out - asking Holly to get her a cup of hot coffee and any food that she can find. Holly simply nodded and walk out her office.
It is weird that her boss acted and dressed that way. As far as she concerned, Laila does not have any problem in her life. As a matter of fact, it is the opposite - she has a great family and friends, she has a great career and she has a great boyfriend. Could it be that she had a fight with her boyfriend?
Holly do not think her boss having a fight with her boyfriend has anything to do with it though. She know her boss enough it that wouldn't affected her that way.
It is peculiar.

Holly carefully put the hot cup of coffee and the fried noodles that she bought at the nearby canteen on the table in her boss's office. Laila move to the sofa area and thank Holly for the meal. Laila look more decent that before, although, her mismatched outfit is unsalvageable. Her hijab look more put together and she has a light makeup on her face which make up the whole outfit.
Holly stand and watch her boss eat her meal. She can just walk out at this moment but part of her is concerned about her boss. She carefully examine her face and body language to see any sign of distress. Can it be that her boss was just overslept? Or was it something else?
The smell of the meal make Holly salivating slightly. Thank goodness she had similar meal earlier or else she has to go get one herself.
Laila eat her fried noodles, not realizing her assistant is in the same room as her.

Holly finally sit in her desk and her expert fingers typing on the keyboard. Clicking sounds are the only sound that can be heard in the quiet office - hers and other's. Everyone are busy finishing up their work before the school holiday as most of them have their own family. Some even do work ahead of time, organizing and drafting, to be able to spend precious time with their family.
She left Laila's office without a word when her boss just quizzically looked at her. She really wanted to ask if there is anything bad happen but she can sense that if there is, her boss don't want anyone to know. She mustered a courage to say something but her boss just stared her with the iciest look she ever received in her life. Knowing that the safest way for both of them is to just stop the unsaid conversation right then, she just thank her boss and left.
She trembled a little before able to do her work.
