Meet the parents

She try to swallow her food but can't. She smile at Azhar's mother when she caught his mother is looking at her. She gather her inner strength to swallow the piece of chicken that has lingering around in her mouth. She can feel the chicken passing through her digestive system but she cannot taste a thing. She put another piece in her mouth on reflex. A decision she now regret because she could have pretend to be busy cutting her food instead. She munch as long as she can before she swallow her food again to hide her uneasiness.

His parents greeted her happily when Azhar introduced her to them. They sat her down and had a conversation with her in a large oriental living room before they went to the dining room. The dining room has equally beautiful oriental aesthetic. It is definitely different from what she used to. The room fills with a variety of smell of delicious food. Before they begin their meal, Azhar recite a prayer. His voice become melodious as he recited the prayer.

They eat and talk now and again to fill the emptiness in between. She try to eat gracefully. She never felt this nervous before. After their dinner, they proceed to the living room again to get to know each other. His mother was curious when Azhar introduce her as Cat. When Cat told her the story behind her name, his mother laughed and told her that she would prefer if she can called Cat by her real name.

Cat introduced herself as Laila.

"Laila.", his mother said, "What a beautiful name."

Laila smile and thank her for the compliment. She told his mother that her mother gave her that name and it means 'night beauty' or 'dark beauty'.  His mother suddenly give her a warm hug and kiss her on the forehead. Laila begin to relax as they spend more time together. They talk, laugh and cry a little (most of which comes from laughing too much) the entire night.

It is almost midnight when Laila lay on her bed with Hope wrap around her arms. She tells Hope all about her night with Azhar's parents. Hope respond by giving Laila a few meows.

They fall asleep together in a comfortable bedroom with the air diffuser giving out the most relaxing smell.
