-Mer.
-I want to go home. - i answered his untold question.
-Stay here, i will go and collect your things. - he lifted me, and gently put down on the bed. I made a ball out of my body, allowing him to get up.
When he entered the room again, with my purse, clothes, and coat in his hand, i stood up. He helped me into my coat, and i tossed my other clothes into my purse. He put on his coat too, and opened the on-call room's door, letting me out before himself. He took my purse out of my hands, carrying it for me. I didn't say anything. I reached for his hand, when we entered the hallway. I stayed close to him, hoping nobody would see us.
Of course, i was wrong. Richard stopped us, just before the front door. I felt my body tense, and he felt it tense too, so he squeezed my hand, letting me know that he is here.
-Meredith. - he looked me in the eye. I saw the look on his face change, when he realized i was in such a bad shape. I didn't answer, just kept eye-contact with him.
-I am sorry. - i nodded, knowing that this wasn't only about Susan's death. He handed me the ice-pack he had in his hand, and i took it. This conformed that he saw him slap me.
-Thank you. - i said, again thanking more things.
Derek opened the door of his car for me, and i got in.
The cold of the ice-pack instantly made my face freeze, but it felt good. Maybe even better than Derek's cold hands in the on-call room. When he gave the bag into my hands in the car, i could see the sadness in his eyes. I nodded, with a bit teary eyes again, and he started the car. I closed my eyes, holding the ice to my face. When i next opened my eyes, the car was parked in front of the house, and Derek helped me out, taking my purse again. He opened the front door, without keys, because it wasn't closed. When we entered i heard my friends chat about something. Izzie came nearly singing to the hall, to ask us something.
-We are watching a movie tonight, do you - she stopped when she saw me.
-What the hell happened to you? - she asked surprised. Hearing that, i looked up at her, still keeping the ice on it's place, i saw everybody in the door. Christina, Alex, George, even Callie.
-Meredith! Who hit you? - Alex asked coming out. I looked at Derek with teary eyes for help, because i still felt numb.
-Susan died. - he said instead of me, getting the hint, while i handed Alex the ice, to untie my trainers.
-Mer, i am so sorry. - Izzie hugged me.
-Who hit you?
-It's not a big deal. - i sighed.
-I need to take a shower. - i pulled my coat off.
-Do you want me to - Derek started and i shook my head, understanding him from a half sentence. I could shower alone. Instead i looked at Derek, and then my friends, to tell him silently, that i wanted him to say them something. Just a little, so it was easier for me.
-Shepherd, who hit her? - i heard Alex's voice behind my back, as i went upstairs into the bathroom. I untied my scrubs, making it fall to the ground. I didn't even look into the mirror. I got in the shower to wash away the day.
I felt like a new person in my pajamas, with my wet hair falling to my shoulders. The ice helped my face, it didn't show any bruises, just my left was a little redder than usual. The ice prevented it. Thanks to Richard. When i went down into the kitchen, my friends were waiting for me in there, with Derek. When i entered, Derek pulled me into his embrace again, breathing me in. I was breathing him in too. We all needed that hug. He held my chin for a moment, taking a look at my face.
-Doesn't hurt. I'm fine. - i said, but i hissed a little when he touched it.
-Yeah, i see...- he said hearing that i hissed.
-Shower. - i whispered into his ear, and let go of him, turning after him as he left.
-Mer, i made you dinner. - Izzie handed me the plate.
-Thank you! - i shew her a smile.
-So, who slapped you? - Christina hopped down next to me.
-Shepherd only said someone slapped you hard in the hospital, and that Susan died.- Callie answered to my curious look.
I took a bite of the chicken. I swallowed it, and looked at the water on the table.
-My father. But it's fine. He was angry. I told him Susan would be okay, and then she died. And it doesn't hurt. Chief brought me ice, and now it's okay.
-It's not okay. - Christina said, making me look at her.
-Will be. - i said, taking another bite.
-So...How was your day? - i asked pretending that everything is normal.
-You don't have to do the thing. - George said.
-The thing? - i asked looking at him confused.
-You know, pretending you're okay, when you're not. Lot has happened. And we get it. You don't want to talk about it yet. Took me a lot of time to talk about Denny too, we get it. - Izzie smiled at me, as i finished my dinner.
-Grey, go to bed. And talk to Shepherd. He's worried about you. - Callie looked at me, holding George's hand.
I left her comment without a response, and scooped myself up.
-Thank you for the dinner. - i smiled at Izzie again.
-Good night! - i told them, and turned around to go up to our room.
Derek was sitting in bed, waiting for me.
-Hey! - i said looking at him.
-Hey! - he greeted me.
-Are you better?
-Yes.
-Derek. - I called him.
-Thank you. For taking care. Of me. - i looked at him, and he just nodded with a Mcdreamy look.
-Mer...Did he ever...hit you before? - he asked, as i felt it was coming.
-No...Once. - i sighed.
-Only once. But that was it. He felt...awful after.
-Should've. Promise me something. - he said processing the information after a short silent break.
-Mhm. - i responded
-You'll always tell me if he hurts you. Either way. - i nodded to his request, and looked him in the eye.
-I love you.
-I love you too. - he said, kissing me softly.
