Chapter 4
When I heard the door bell ring, I rushed down the stairs into the dining room. Cassia had picked out a pale pink v-neck with light blue jeans and a long gold necklace that fell above my bellybutton. I had my long brown hair loosely waved and it went down to the middle of my back. My light brown oxfords made me feel more sophisticated. I was confident with my appearance when the Horan's walked in.
Mr. Horan, Bobby, walked in and he wore a navy blue blaizer. Then walked in their sons, both wearing different colored polos.
"That one in the purple polo is Gregg, he's 20. He goes to college close by so he lives at home," Finn whispers to me so I'm not completely lost. I looked over and Cassia was doing the same to Aimee. "And the one in the green polo and khakis is Niall. He's your age, and he's really nice," Finn tells me as Niall goes to play with Liam. It looked like they were buddies, they were giggling. It made my cheeks flush when he noticed me staring. His bluish green eyes piercing into mine.
Niall said something to Liam and walked over to me. Finn then patted me on the shoulder letting me know he was walking away. I straightened out my shirt, making sure I looked good. I don't know why I was so concerned on his impression of me.
"Hi, I'm Niall," he said, reaching out his hand. I gladly took it, his hands were soft. A smile spread across his face as I blushed, revealing his crooked teeth. Usually I would've been disgusted, but it made him look so innocent.
"I'm Kennedy." I didn't realize I was speaking softly, so I coughed to regain my voice. I had spoken only two words to him and I was already smitten.
He brushed his blonde hair back away from his forehead, looking down then up at me. "I like your shoes," he shyly said. Was he nervous too?
"Thanks," I said, looking straight into his gleaming eyes. I never thought is was possible to blush more. "So, what's Mullingar like?" I tried to get a real conversation started.
He chuckled, probably at my pronunciation. "You're accent is... different," he laughed. His laugh was contagious, the way his eyes pinched because of his lips pulling his cheeks back.
"Yours isn't too normal to me, either," I said, still giggling at the remark.
"Dinner is ready!," Aunt Clara called out to everyone. I had completely forgotten where I was. We had all shifted into the living room, Gregg was talking to Patrick, Finn was talking with Aimee and Liam was playing with his toys on the floor. Cassia pulled him off of the floor and peeled him away from his toys. Liam walked up to Niall and I with a huge grin on his face.
"Can I sit next to you tonight, Kennedy?," Liam said excitedly.
"Of course you can!," I gushed, messing up his hair. Niall laughed at the way I acted towards him. Liam ran to save Niall and I seats. Cassia told him not to run, while Aunt Clara and Mr. Horan brought out the food. As I looked around, we really looked like a happy family. I turned to see Niall staring at my face. He noticed I caught him and he quickly looked down. I couldn't hold back my smile.
"Bon Appetite!," My mother called out. She took three years of french and she tried to show it off every chance she had. We all dug into the steak and mashed potatoes. When I reached for the bread, Niall's hand brushed mine, but we didn't flinch. We just looked up at each other and smiled.
"NIALL AND KENNEDY SITTING IN A TREE! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!," Liam started screaming at us. I blushed and Niall couldn't stop laughing.
"Liam, you know we don't act like that at the table," Uncle Joseph told him sternly. It interrupted everyone's conversations, but it was a good laugh.
