Chapter 17
As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, I started to count my blessings. Niall and I would cherish our moments, because we didn't know what the future would hold. We didn't know what would happen when he went off to his audition. For all we know, he could become a millionaire pop singer, or he could come back with Simon telling him he was horrible. As we spent more time together, I got a sense of how clingy I was being. I didn't want to annoy him, but I didn't want to be without him. It was difficult to grasp onto reality; the day finally came when Niall had to audition.
"We'll be watching and hoping," I whispered to Niall before he got into the car. My family was standing behind me as his father, Gregg, and even his mother got in.
"I'm nervous, Kennedy," he whispered back to me, his voice shaky.
"Don't be," I said, putting my hands on his shoulders, "You've practiced too much to be nervous."
He kissed me and escaped to the car. We all watched as they drove away, drove to Dublin. Niall had practiced with me for endless amounts of time. He rehearsed almost every day, once he decided which song to sing. It took him ages to get the courage to sing in front of me. I thought he had a great voice, but I was praying the judges did too. And I didn't stop hoping we wouldn't lose contact.
"Come, Kennedy, it's chilly out here," my mother called to me.
I went back inside with her and waited for the X Factor to come on. I kept busy, making snacks, doing homework, talking to my cousins. I was wondering what Niall was doing every moment. Waiting in the car, waiting on line to audition, waiting to see what the judges would say, waiting. Finally it came to 7:00pm and everyone sat in front of the television. We watched the others compete, a few girls and guys auditioned. Then it was Niall's turn.
"Now we present Niall Horan to the judges, a 16 year old from Mullingar, Westmeath," the announcer said.
"Everyone! Sh! Niall is on!" I screamed throughout the busy living room.

"I can't believe it," I said, my jaw on the floor. Everyone was so shocked, even Niall's family was in tears.
"I really thought he was going to make it," Cassia said, shaking her head.
_________
This is the shortest chapter in the universe but chapter 18 is legit. And 19 is even more legit.
Sorry I had writers block! And I know the story isn't accurate to the real life of Niall Horan but this is fiction for a reason.
