Chapter 11

Today's Valentine's Day, the day Niall was supposed do surprise me. This year, Valentine's Day fell on a Friday. Niall had told me he would surprise me today and tonight. Curiosity nipped at me, wondering all week what Niall was planning.

When Niall's father picked up Patrick, Cassia and I, Niall already had a surprise for me.

"Happy Valentine's Day, love," Niall said as I sat down next to him. He kissed me lightly, handing me a stuffed bear. It was as tall as a water bottle, with a heart sewn on its nose.

"Aw, that's so sweet of you! Thank you," I said kissing his cheek. He blushed and grabbed my hand. I decided to get into the spirit and wear my regular pink sweater and bright blue jeans. Before I left the house, my mother gave me a silver heart necklace.

"I like your sweater," Niall remarked as we arrived to school. Once the car stopped, Niall ran out to my side and opened the care door for me. I felt like a celebrity as I stepped out with Niall. I saw many jealous glares along with others' sweet eyes. He walked with me to my locker, and I put the stuffed bear inside.

"Be ready for more surprises," Niall whispered to me, trying to hide his excitement.

"You're such a romantic," I said, blushing, "Happy Valentine's Day." We kissed once more before parting ways. I caught up with Tommie to go to chemistry.

"Hey!" she excitedly said, "Are you and Niall doing anything special today?"

"Niall is surprising me throughout the day, and another surprise tonight," I said, blushing. This was the first Valentine's Day where I was a couple... kind of. I was still unsure of my situation with Niall. I knew I loved being with him, and he was always in my thoughts, but there was something holding me back. The fear of experiencing actual love.

We arrived and sat down with Tommie, "Is he sending you a rose?" She was so excited for me.

"I think so," I said shyly.

"Niall is such a cute guy! I'm glad he has you," Tommie said.

"What do you mean?"

"He's been rejected by so many girls," Tommie started, "they never give him a chance."

"How? I love being with him," I gushed. Just then, Mr. Sullivan started his lesson and I took out my notebook to start jotting down new vocabulary. I flipped to the next clean page as the excited grin escaped my lips.

"What is it?" Tommie asked curiously. Inside my notebook, Niall had written me a note.

Happy Valentine's Day, Love ♥ Hope you enjoy your first surprise ♥ Xx

My face got red at the romantic note staring back at me. I showed it to Tommie, "HE'S SO CUTE!" she screamed loud enough for the world to hear. Everyone stared at us as we giggled.

Halfway through our chemistry lesson, the person handing out flowers came to our classroom. Many were handed out to blushing girls. Tommie had gotten a flower from an anonymous person. We squealed together in joy. Then the person came to my desk. First she set down two lilies, one from a boy in my gym class and one from Tommie. I hugged her for being so sweet. Then, the person set down a huge bouquet of roses. Not just roses, but white roses. I read the card, 'Happy Valentine's Day, Sincerely Niall'. Many girls looked at me in envy as I struggled to hold them all together.

"Why did he get you white roses?" Tommie asked, confused.

"White roses are my favorite flower," I said, lifting them up to my nose. They smelled so nice and clean. The bell rang and I tried to carry them to my next class.
