Chapter 32

I sprinted in the dark, trying to catch up with Niall and Emily. My towel and basket were starting to slip from my arms as I ran faster. Finally I saw Niall with his arm around Emily's shoulders, and I heard soft sobs from Emily.

"Em," I said when I got close enough.

She turned around, her eyes were red and puffy, "I knew this would happen. I've fallen for an imbecile."

"No, Harry's not an imbecile," NIall rubbed her back, "He just really loves you. He wouldn't have done that if he didn't love you."

"Why can't he show me he loves me like normal people?!" Emily shouted at us, "Like, buy me flowers, bake me brownies, not try to kill someone!"

"Emily, please," I said, trying to calm her down, "he was just jealous of you and Liam, he doesn't know how to express himself."

"No, that's not lack of expression, that's stupidity," she spat. Emily's eyes were brimmed with water as she turned around and continued to walk. Niall and I shared a look and patiently walked behind her.

And yet, it started to rain. Like every day, small drops fell from the sky. Our perfect, beautiful day was over.

We had walked in silence, letting the rain engulf us, al the way over to our houses. Emily was still slowly sulking forward into my house as I kissed Niall goodbye.

"Teall Eleanor to grab her bags and come over whenever," I whispered to him.

"Okay, hopefully everyone's almost here," Niall said, He kissed my forehead and we parted ways. I ran down my walkway to Emily who was sitting on the steps of my house, her head in her hands.

"Em, come on, you're not stupid for loving him, he just has a bad temper, I'm sure he'll change for you," I said, sitting beside her and rubbing her back. At this point we were drenched.

"Kennedy," she said, sniffling and looking up to meet my eyes, "What if he does that to me! W-What if he hurts me like Derek--" she began in another fit of sobs.

"No," I said sternly. I forced her to look at me, "That is not going to happen to you. Harry is a good guy, he loves you Emily."

"But Derek loved you!" Her eyes were still noticabley streaming with tears, even through the rain I could see them.

"No he didn't!" I yelled back at her, "Derek was a selfish asshole who used me! Harry is a sensitive, amazing guy who just has a bit of a temper! Would you just be greatful that you found someone who loves you unconditionally?!"

She stared blankly at me while the rain fell.

"Emily? Emily!" Harry was running, soaking wet.

"Harry?" Emily stood up, waiting for him to run to her. I stood by the door, staying out of the way.

"Emily," he breathed, stopping in front of her, "I'm sorry."

She grabbed his face and pulled her down for a kiss. A long, passionate, hungry kiss. He ran his fingers through her hair, holding her forcefully.

"It's okay," she pulled back, "I know you're just stupid."

"So stupid," he said, pulling her into another kiss.

I left them there in the rain, walking into the house. I looked out of the window to see everyone else arriving. I took this opportunity to take a shower and change before the girls came inside. I set the water temperature just right and hopped in. I didn't realize how bad I smelled until I started scrubbing myself with my vanila shower gel. Mid-way through my shower, I heard someone open the door.
