Chapter 9
Dinner went well. Aunt Clara had made lasagna which was delicious. The Horan's are fast eaters, especially Niall. He could finish a meal with the blink of an eye. We all had a great night, and Niall wasn't shy about kissing me goodbye. Luckily, Aimee was the only one to see it.
"Kennedy," Cassia called from the den.
"Yes?"
"Come with me," she said, now walking up the stairs. I followed her into her bedroom, painted yellow with deep purple curtains and McFly posters everywhere. Once we were sat on her bed, she became serious. "What exactly did you do when you were at Niall's house the other night?"
I could tell there was obviously a misunderstanding, "No it wasn't like that. We were watching movies and I fell asleep on his couch." I tried to make her believe I wasn't like that.
"You can trust me, I just want you to be safe and protected," Cassia said, her tone getting kind.
"No, Cassia. I'm a virgin," I told her. She stood up and went to her bedside table. She rummaged through her things, and pulled out two small, square, silver packages. "What is th--," I started. She put put them in my hand and I realized what they were. "Cassia! I don't need, nor want these!"
"Keep them, just in case," she said calmly. "Other than that, how are you and Niall?," she asked, changing the subject.
"We had our first fight yesterday," I said, remembering the shouting we exchanged.
"Oh, what about?" Cassia asked, sadness trailing in her voice.
"He asked me to be his girlfriend and I said no. When I asked him why he wanted me to be his girlfriend, he said because he was afraid of what the other guys do to the girls. He said they pull their shirts off and spank their bums," I said, thinking of the embarrassment I felt when Niall angrily saw me shirtless.
"What?" Cassia asked confused, "I've never seen anyone do that in school."
"What!?" I almost screamed. I was flaring with anger all over again. He lied to me just to defend himself. He did just want to monopolize me, close me off from all of the other guys.
"Kennedy, calm down," Cassia said, resting a hand on my shoulder, "Niall never lies."
"No! This is different! He used them as an excuse to try and 'claim' me as his own! I'm not an object!" I yelled at her. I didn't care who heard me, I was angry. I ran off into my room and locked the door. I couldn't suppress the anger, so I punched my pillow. Finally once I calmed down, I put my pajamas on and brushed my teeth for bed. I know it's not good for people to go to sleep angry, but too bad.

"Hey babe," Niall said as I got into his car. I tilted my head away when he went to kiss my cheek, "Is everything alright?" I ignored him on our way to school. Patrick turned on the radio to break the awkward silence I was emitting. We arrived at the main entrance as I bolted from the car. I ran into the door, trying to remember the way to my locker.
"Kennedy, is everything okay?" Niall asked, running up behind me. Patrick and Cassia went down the other direction as I started walking, ignoring Niall again. I found my new locker and begin to twist the lock, remembering morning conversations with Emily and Mackenzie. "Kennedy, why are you ignoring me?" Niall asked, concerned.
"I'm mad at you," I muttered, putting books in and taking books out of my small storage. I stuffed my coat in and slammed it shut.
"Why? What did I do?" he asked, eyes widening. I wanted to kiss him so badly, but I was angry. I had to remember my anger, I was never good at holding grudges.
