Chapter 21

"Do you want to come over?" Niall asked me as we hopped out of his fathers car.

"Of course silly," I giggled. He grabbed my hand as we walked into his large home and into his living room.

"Do you want something to eat?" he asked, getting up to go to the kitchen.

"Is that a rhetorical question?" I answered with a question.

"Oh, haha, of course," he chuckled. He quickly came back to me with a bag of chips and two sodas.

"What are we doing first? French or global," I asked, grabbing my notebooks out of my bag whilst shoving chips in my face.

"French, we can do global during study hall," Niall replied, also taking in handfuls of food.

After we finished the simple worksheet on reflexive verbs, we both got out our chemistry notes. Time went by, us chatting and eating and working. Niall finally brought something to my attention that I haven't really thought of.

"So, how are you and Tommie?" he asked, looking down at his notes and not making eye contact.

"Oh, erm, I don't know," I replied, looking at his face. He turned his head to face me, his eye brows furrowed together, "What I do know is that I'm mad at her."

"It was very uncalled for," he said, still looking at my eyes.

"What did she mean when she told you that you knew how she felt about you?" I asked, remembering his explanation.

"Well, at the beginning of the year, we were really close. She didn't have many friends, I was always there for her. She was a goody two shoes, always got good grades, didn't do anything bad, her mother's very religious, etc. But her father started drinking, which made her mother sort of depressed. This lead Tommie to crave her parents attention which caused her to start doing bad things. I tried to help her, I really did. One night she texted me and she was wasted. It started becoming a usual thing. But then she confesses to me that she had lost her virginity to Connor. After he was sort of 'done with her,' he would ignore her. She thought she was 'in love,' so she tried to get his attention too by dressing provocatively. He then used her by telling her he loved her, they had sex again, and he left again. She dated around, experimented with pot, all because of her parents. I tried to help her but she wouldn't listen to me," he paused, breathing in. The memories probably pained him. I rubbed his back encouragingly, "This story has a point, I swear!" he chuckled.

"It's okay, take your time," I said softly.

"So, after I tried to counsel her into not doing bad things, she didn't listen. Shocker. So I found out where Connor was having a party and I knew Tommie was going to be there. I went sort of to make sure she wasn't drinking or smoking or anything. I showed up and she obviously had had a few drinks, but she wasn't too drunk..."

Flashback~

"Tommie! Have you been drinking?!" I asked her.

She tumbled over to me with a red solo cup in her hand, "Nooo!"

"Yes, you have. I'm taking you home," I said, grabbing her wrist.

"Why do you have to be such a party pooper, baby?" she asked, slurring her words together.

"I'm not a party pooper!" I fought back.

"Really?" she asked, smirking, "then come with me."

She led me into what seemed to be a guest bedroom, plain beige walls, cream curtains, and a large king sized bed. She threw me onto the mattress, sitting on top of me. She set her drink on the floor and started kissing my neck.
