Chapter 14

"MOOOMMM!!"

"What, Kennedy?!" Mother called up to me.

"What's for lunch?" I shouted down, not moving from my bed.

"You're 37 years old, you can make your own god damn lunch!"

I got up from my bed, and went to the bathroom. I missed it when Aimee would come in and we would share the space. Aimee had her second child two weeks ago.

I looked at my face in the mirror, not a very pretty sight. I had tired wrinkles around my eyes and mouth, and yet another grey hair among the many others. When I was 26, I decided to cut off my long, brown hair. I wanted a new look, but I didn't think it would be permanent. I decided not to look any more, and just hop in the shower. I liked to just stand under the hot water, I liked to imagine I was 16 again, when I was in love.

I hopped out and threw on clothes that hid my weight. I used to be skinny and curved in the right places, now I had a little extra on the hips and thighs. Long skirts or dress pants are my best bet now. I finally had a date tonight, but it was a bit depressing since I had to get it through online dating. I decided to wear black pants and a green blouse. I straightened my hair; it fell just beneath my shoulders. I missed it when Cassia would pick out my outfits, and do my make-up. She now lives in Milan as a fashion designer with her husband and four children.

Patrick ended up marrying Mary, they live in Manchester with three children. Mary is a model, and Patrick is a lawyer. They are very successful, having a happy life. Finn married my old best friend, Tommie. I remember setting them up together. They decided to live in California, after we all went together. They have twin girls, one is a soccer star and the other works for Cover Girl. And Liam is the most eligible bachelor in Australia, at 29. After I turned 18, I went off to college in London and completely forgot about Mackenzie and Emily. I think Emily is a pharmacist and Mackenzie is an actress. Everyone in my life ended up being successful.

And for Niall, he has toured the world, as a famous singer and song writer. He married Blake Lively, and they live in New York City. Once Niall left for X Factor, he didn't keep in touch like he had promised. He did have many girls throwing themselves at him, and one of them happened to be a beautiful girl from California. What are the odds. I think she's pregnant now, and they've already had a girl. When I was in college, all I would hear about was Niall Horan, and his fame and fortune. A bunch of my friends were obsessed with him, and I never told them about our relationship. It made my heart ache, hearing his voice on radio interviews.

I pushed the memories out of my mind, taking the makeup on my face to take on the day. I never forgot to put on the emerald earrings Niall had given me when we were 16. They always made the memories flood through my brain. I pulled on my nude pumps and proceeded down the stairs.

"Mother, I'm going out for a few," I said, grabbing my purse. She yelled out an okay and I walked outside. It was the end of August, still warm but breezy. I made my way down the streets, looking at all of the happy people. I decided to stop by Nando's, have a bite to eat. It didn't take long, I always got a salad and water. It didn't take long until I was out again, I had time to kill.

I passed the Garden Centre, and felt pain in my chest as I walked by the Foxgloves. For the past 21 years, I would walk past the same places, and feel the same pain. I had cried so many tears, my heart just went cold. I just felt empty. When I passed the paintball arena, I couldn't help but stare at one of the happy couples hiding behind a rock; our rock.

The day went by quickly, I went home and fixed myself up for my blind date tonight. I managed to make myself look 'not-as-pudgy' as I normally did, I think the daily walks helped. I felt 16 again when the bell rang, I knew it was my date coming to pick me up. I knew he loved reading, science, horse riding. He looked rich and handsome. I quickly made my way down the stairs and open the doors to hopefully see my future husband.

I opened the door to see a tall brunette in a nice suit. He turned around with red roses and, and a familiar face. I couldn't put my finger on it, but he looked like someone I had met before.

"Hello, lovely, are y--," he started, his smile fading, "Kennedy?"

"Have we met?" I asked. I knew I knew him from somewhere.

"It's me, Connor!" he said, smile getting wider. Connor. The Connor from my junior year at Wisteria High School. I remembered being humiliated in front of a large part of the student body, and Niall coming to my rescue.

That's when I woke up, in my bed. I was in a cold sweat, it was 2am.

I couldn't let Niall go. I wouldn't allow that nightmare to become a reality.

----------

Hey everyone! This chapter is a figment of Kennedy's imagination, so she's still 16 and Kiall are still together.

I know it's short, but chapter 15 is on its way.
