POV- Citronius

Everyone says that you can't cry underwater...

But what if you can? What if you can and nobody sees? What if the people above water don't realize that the tears are a different color? A different form. A different color or feeling?

I floated in the deep abyss and breathing the air I could get from my gills. The water swirled around as the currents rushed animals from
one place to another. I hid amongst the rocks. I felt the rough texture under my hands along with the algae and mossy textures too.

The planet I live in is called Vesta. My home is completely underwater. There are plenty of creatures that live under  the surface. Me being one of them.

I swam and touched along the fast current going the opposite direction. Pearls and Jewels floated around in the current. It was illegal by my creatures to touch them because it was rightfully theirs. I had the power I needed. My duty was to protect them and that has been what I've been doing since the war days.

I feel like after the war days everyone separated. Our world became a world of isolation. The creatures have their talks but I just swim around and try and fin wrestle the serpents. They are some of the angriest creatures I've ever met.

I swam along the current some more and decided to part ways with it.

I hummed a tune as I saw the underwater geysers blow warm bubbles to the surface. They shined different colors.

I saw the light fade from the surface and I decided to swim down into the abyss. I swam and my tail began to glow. My hair flowed in the water with grace. The water got colder and colder as I went down.

I heard the rumbling of the serpents as they began to wake up and take my shift for defending. Or what there was for defending. Not necessarily people but a tough current or something uninteresting. I went into my little cave on the side of the ravine in the abyss. As I went in, I could see the serpents intertwine with each other. Two were on patrol tonight.

I turned on my light and swirled onto my seashell chair. I had a few plants in place for a cushion. I had some trinkets I found from past wars hung on the wall.

I traced the tattoos on my skin. I had serpents and shells. Mainly things I found I would tattoo on myself. If I found it important anyway.

Under the water was silent. Occasionally you could hear the sounds of the giant crabs clicking and talking to each other. Most the conversation wasn't interesting at all. Mainly just about how much bigger each other's claws were than the other.

I brushed my hair with a simple comb and tied it back with a piece of underwater Kollweed. It felt nice to have my hair back instead of flowing in the watery depths.

I listened to the hums and hisses of the serpents. They seemed content. I swirled the water with my hands and made little wisps and characters dance with each other in the dark. I dimmed the lights and watched the current glow.

     I hummed a tune.

     A simple tune.

I usually never went out of the ravines at night because it was highly dangerous. I was the top animal of the daytime. I glowed in the dark, meaning I was an easy target by everything. The serpents had a rough time with me as it is. Nonetheless, I decided to go to the surface.

I swam up and my tail left a glowing trail behind me. I was glowing green tonight. My tail had long ends that left a trail. The trail eventually faded however.

I started to see the moonlight. Our planet had four moons. We had only two suns though. As long as there was no land, the planet never heated up. Vesta was perfect like that. A perfect home for me. I was nearing the surface and I had bypassed the two serpents.

I touched the beginning of the surface and rose my head above the water. I saw stars scattered everywhere in the sky. Each and every one unique and separate from one another. It was truly a sight to see. It had been a hundred or so years since I had seen the stars. I saw a purple shooting star.

It was coming towards my planet. I sighed in awe because it was beautiful. It came faster snd faster once I realized it wasn't an it. It was a she. She looked beautiful.

     Though, she wasn't a person.

     She was a Celestial.

     I knew who she was.

     Venetra.

Guardian in between worlds and lives on the blue planet.

It's been awhile since anyone's seen her. Though word has gotten around that she's been seen a lot more recently.

She stared me down. I stared back but not with intention of threat.

     "Hello," I said quietly.

     "Hello," she spoke back.

"What do you come here for?" I spoke with a whisper.

"I came to ask for your help and direction," she replied angelically.

     "For?"

"An asteroid has hit where I need to go," she started, "I kind of sent it. It looked an awful lot like me but it wasn't me? Does that make sense?"

"Yes it does," I paused. "Is there anything you would like me to do?"

"Get the serpents to deliver the message for me," She spoke softly.

"Understood," I whispered confidently, "Give me a moment,"

I dove under and saw the serpent staring at me in the eyes. It was the male serpent. His eyes were dark and golden eyed. They glowed in the dark just as I did.

"Rise and help her will you?"

The serpent growled and hummed but eventually rose to the surface with a splash.

I rose up to the surface out of curiosity. I saw them stare each other down. Venetra floated forward and touched the serpent. They had a force that ran through their veins. Venetra knew the galaxy was apart of her. Their knowledge spread to each other as they communicated telepathically.

She was beautiful. I'm pretty sure everyone could agree.

After thirty minutes of communication, she turned and saw me.

She floated towards me and gave me a trinket. It was a jewel.

It was a black and purple jewel. It was beautiful. Breathtaking actually.

I looked at her as she was about to leave. She nodded silently at me. I smiled at her.

"I'm Venetra by the way," she said, reaching out her hand.

"Citronius," I said with water flowing through my gills.

"A pleasure," she started, "I must go find the king of music. Farewell Citronius."

"Farewell Venetra," I said with a wave.

She flew off at the speed of light. What a woman. I hope she finds what she deserves one day. That woman really deserves it.

Maybe she wasn't even a woman.

She was a Celestial. A Guardian. Guardian of in between all worlds. The omniscient one. All knowing and no fear.

She was the hope I had that there was other worlds out there.

     Be safe Venetra.

     Be safe.
