POV- Narcissus
I was feeling extremely groggy. It had been a day or two since the incident with the virus and the streets had gone quiet. My population of my city was dropping like flies. All I could remember before I eventually passed out from exhaustion was that I saw a gas mask. A black gas mask in fact. I raised my head up from the floor just to find myself in a warehouse. The walls were white and the lights were dim. I had some futuristic looking cuffs on my wrists. It was quiet and cold. What was I even doing here?
The person in the black gas mask didn't kill me. I don't know why, but it must've been some sign from higher powers than myself. Could I change? Why was I even worrying about it? If I really worried I would change already. I should forget about it. I should stay the narcissistic asshole I am yes?
I was still slightly groggy from earlier. The ringing in my ears wore off and I could hear fine. There was some blood stains on me still and on my suit. I had a few bruises and a lot of wounds on my cheeks. My left leg hurt like hell and I didn't know where the two people went. Or if there was even two people. For sure there was at least one. I looked around to eventually spot a bag in the distance. It was a black duffel bag. The cuffs dropped off of my wrists and I got up from the ground slowly. I was weak in the legs. I slowly but surely walked over towards the bag in the empty warehouse. This place was relatively large too. I took slow breaths to pace myself as I slowly made my way over.
They wouldn't kill me right?
Yes they would.
I finally got to the bag and began to open the flaps.
There was a lot of currencies in here. Money. Lots of it. There was a note too. It was written in a code, but I decoded it pretty quickly.
"Leave. Grab the money. Leave. You remember nothing. Leave."
I picked up the duffel bag and hoisted it on my shoulders and began to walk towards the panel doors that just opened. I started to hurry up a bit to get out of here and find Abanus. He wouldn't believe what happened.
Wait...
Did he live?
I continued with walking and ignored the worrying question. I couldn't care at this time. I felt the life drain from me continuously as I moved forward with every day. I eventually began to reach the ends of the warehouse. My hopes of getting free didn't last long. I was eventually pinned down with a knife to my neck.
"Where do you think you're going?" said an unknown voice.
It was the black gas mask. I could hear the breathing.
"Out," I said sarcastically.
"By who's command?" The knife dug further into my skin.
"My own. Get off of me," I threw it off of me and saw the figure.
Four arms, brass knuckles, a gas mask, a hood, different badges and medals, and one arm had something in it. I couldn't describe it well. It was cylinder shaped though for sure.
"Don't test me," It hissed through the mask.
"Don't bother me and let me out of here then," I scoffed.
"Who are you?" The figure was surrounding me as I walked out.
"Not important enough to answer to you. I'm not going to be long anyway. Thank you for saving my life. Farewell," I waved at it behind me.
The figure gripped my wrist with great strength. I turned around to see the gas mask inches from my face.
"Answer me," the figure said as I could hear the harsh breathing in and out of the mask.
"I don't need to," I scoffed.
"Maybe this will change your mind," the figure pulled out a knife.
I could sense some power from within the weapon. Some small hissing sounds came from it that I could tell.
"You told me to leave, So I'm leaving. Be grateful," I said as I tried avoiding violence.
I needed to stay patient. This psychopath wasn't going to be easy.
"We saved you because we have questions. Answer them," The voice became static.
"Ask three and let me go," I paused. "Without dying."
The figure pulled away from me and sighed in the mask. "Deal."
"What do you know about the virus?" I could hear an annoyed sigh come from the figure.
"Not sure. Ask Abanus if he lives," I replied with a shrug.
"Okay. Who are you then?" The mask tilted it's head.
"I wont be specific, but let's just say I run all this," I chuckled.
"I won't ask any further then. You may leave," the mask turned on it's heel and began to walk away from me towards a door at the end of the warehouse.
I finally began to keep walking. I was done and I needed rest. I didn't know where Abanus went or if he even lived. I stepped out and watched some of the night sky appear before me. The great celestial was out there somewhere wasn't she. She could save us all and fix this mess. At least, that's what everyone expects. They expect others to clean up after your own mess. Think of the people on earth and all their crises. The creatures of Goldenheart with their shield to protect them from a scorching death. I didn't know of too many other worlds. Even the prince himself is searching for his sunshine to save him. Do I have anyone to save my narcissistic soul? No, I do not. It's all up to me to change. I can't wait for some dire miracle to save me. Although some part of me believed the figure in the gas mask would come back around sooner or later, I didn't think that would save me.
I walked along the sidewalks towards my city.
All the while I stood in the moonlight. What a glorious wonder every moon is. Pulling the tides and giving almost every creature to look at. It provided me with a sense of hope. I think I could change. I was sure of it.
All thanks to the moonlight.
