POV- The Catalyst
"It's dark in here," I told Perseus.
"Sun doesn't reach inside here unless I want it to," He shrugged at me.
"That makes sense. Don't the plants need it?" I looked at him.
"Not necessarily. If I allow then yes," he replied.
"That sounds magical," I looked up as we both strolled through the woods.
"That's what I am Asya," He looked at me as I looked down from staring at the canopy.
Flowers bloomed along the canopy at his command. I watched in awe at all the different colors that appeared before me.
"You're right. Hey, thanks for saving me," I finally looked to him.
"It was my pleasure. You're worth the time," he stated calmly.
"I appreciate the kindness too," I pitched in.
"My... Pleasure," he relaxed.
"You know... my powers are coming to an end. Half of them are going away. I get to keep the shockwaves though," I finally admitted.
"Oh? Why is that," he asked at the sudden news.
"With the silent war coming to a close, the virus dies off. When the virus dies off, so do I," I explained.
"Explain further. I'm quite curious," He motioned for me to sit down in the moss as we stopped talking.
"The virus has been inside of me for quite a long time now. It's taken practically my entire body over and has control over multiple of my systems. If it leaves, my body will shut down and then I will die soon after that," I started. "The situation on how I need to solve that problem is quite complicated. I would need some life-like liquid inside that could kill off the virus."
"What kind? Does it come from plants?" He started off. "If so I could possibly help!"
"No. It has to come from a person Perseus," I scoffed. "That's what Justice was for."
"Step back now..." He said in a shocked tone. "So am I the sacrifice now?!"
"No," I simply put it. "Justice had a powerful amount of life energy in his veins. Yours isn't as powerful."
"Ouch," He brushed his shoulder.
"Take it with a grain of salt. It's not an insult to you. It just means you're safe," I assured him.
"Alright. That's what you say," he moved forward and changed the subject. "What's your favorite planet?"
"Mine," I responded.
"Whats "mine" ?" He kept staring at my mask.
"Its a mirror planet. Its very peaceful except the occasional glass storms," I reminisced.
"Sounds beautiful. What kind of flowers grow there?" He smiled.
"None," I stared back at him coldly, though he didn't know it.
"Not one?" He looked at me confused.
"Not at all. Just mirrored with a thin layer of water and storms occasionally," I replied back.
"Water but no flowers?" He let out a breath. "That makes no sense..."
"I make no sense Perseus," I stood up. "I come from a planet that makes no sense. Most of this universe makes no sense. The way flowers appear from your hands at your command makes no sense. Venetra makes no sense. Where did she come from? You ever think of that? It all makes no sense if you really go insane enough to think about it."
"Yeah, you are right. You have a few points there I'll admit Asya," He nodded as he stood up with me.
"Only Venetra knows," I looked ahead in the vast area of more dark forest canopies and mystery.
"She might not know all of it," he explained. "We don't know that either. If she knew it all, you'd be cured and the universe would be perfect."
"You're right, but what if she believes in imperfection?" I asked the real question. "Life in the universe can be unfair and unruly. What if that's what she intended?"
"I'm not sure. I guess we'll never know," He shrugged at me. "And that's completely okay. The art of never knowing something is magic in and of itself."
He smiled at me with a flower blooming on his lip.
"Maybe one day?" I half sighed and half smiled at the thought.
He looked up and said, "Maybe."
Perseus was a really inspirtational figure to me. He had such a great way of coming up with things. He provoked thoughts in me that I would've never thought about before. We both stared off into the canopies in silence. His hair was filled with different flowers today. He had horns too that curled and pointed to wherever he looked. Perseus was someone I could call a friend.
The part about Justice being someone I needed to take the life from was a scary thought. Not because I wanted to kill him, but because I didn't care about his death even after all he did for me. It proved that the virus was beginning to invade my mind, which proved something I had to accept. My death may be coming soon if this problem wasn't fixed. This was a mere warning that soon enough I wouldn't be able to recognize due to the sickness. The virus had always been on my biggest worries list. Worries were also something of mystery. Why was I worried about the hands of death grasping me to the soil?
It was then I realized that Perseus was talking to me again. He interrupted my worrying thoughts. He brought my imperfect mind to silence.
"Asya! I just thought of something," he yelled. "Listen to me!"
"What is it?" I looked at him from my trance.
"There's beauty in imperfection. Asya you are imperfection!" he stunned some thoughts into my mind.
"Why would someone find beauty in imperfection?" I was slightly confused.
"Imperfection is unpredictable. I don't ever know when you'll cause a storm, cheer me up, surprise me, or end someones life," He explained with great excitement. "You are ineffable Asya!"
"That's a great way to put it, but then that means you're perfection? Does that not make you beautiful?" I asked.
"Imperfection and perfection simply exist as two different forms of beauty, yet none seem to have any true definition of existing. Things are defied all the time. The way stars just stay there in the sky, the mystery of black holes, supernovas, and infinity itself. It's all so confusing Asya. It's both perfect and imperfect at the same time," he explained.
"You make a good impression Perseus," I slightly smiled behind my mask. "I should trust what you say more often."
"You really should," he smiled at me. "I make
a lot of good points for being alone most of my existence."
"I guess thats the way it is," I shrugged.
"I guess so Asya..." He looked up at the canopy and repeated again. "I guess so..."
