POV - Venetra
"You're going to have to save the universe sooner or later," Cyfrin stated the obvious.
"Correct," I replied and kept the cosmic blood inside.
"Which means you either have to grow or die. You have to get your powers back," he pondered.
"I would have to speak with the bosses of the universe. Meaning, someone I had cut ties with long ago," I shivered at the thought.
"Is there something you haven't told me then?" He turned and looked at me.
"This happened over 100,000 years ago Cyfrin. You were not alive then," I told him calmly.
"Tell me," Cyfrin looked slightly worried.
"It's best not to worry for now," I ignored his questioning.
"Well I'm worrying," he stood up.
"You really shouldn't be," I assured him.
"Who is it?" he paused. "What is it?"
"An old colleague of mine," he couldn't know.
"Colleague?!" he looked down at me. "I need a name..."
"I'm afraid I cannot give you that answer currently," I stood up and turned away in my white cloak.
"Tell me!" He begged.
I said nothing to him.
"Tell me Venetra! We can fight it," he tried his hardest to convince me.
He shoved me, yet I didn't budge.
"Cyfrin," I let out a breath in the cold air.
"Yes?" he had hope in his voice.
"This creature can flip the power structure in seconds. You thought I was in control of everything? Think again. I only carry out orders this colleague gives me. I'm a mere second best to this one," I finally let out the truth.
"So you can die..." he stepped back.
"If I went into a face to face battle with it in my state right now? Then yes. This colleague of mine is doing this to us both. I may or may not know the deal he wants to make," I sighed in sorrow.
"I won't ask any further. Go... Save yourself Venetra. For once, save yourself. Be a little selfish once in awhile," he began to cry as I turned around to him.
"Oh Cyfrin... You know I can't do that to you," I walked slowly towards him.
"I'm not allowed to go with you. I just know it," He began to sob now.
I wrapped all my arms around him.
"Venetra you know I don't want you to go right?" he cried into my shoulder.
"I know. I never said I was leaving," I admitted.
"I know you say you aren't, but I know it's going to have to come soon or else you'll lose the power you have," he spoke the inevitable.
"Better to rip off the armor now than wait until later," I spoke.
"That's exactly why I told you to leave. Before we got to the point of my tears," he drooped into me.
"Am I going to go now then?" I pulled away gently.
"I guess so," he sighed. "Better to get it done as soon as possible."
He tried to be positive. I could see it in him that he was snapping on the inside due to me having to leave. I felt so bad for him. He had a timed life by the universe and I didn't.
"I guess it's time we say our temporary goodbyes," I prepared myself to leave.
"Yet you're only temporarily saving the universe again right?" He got ready to say goodbye too.
"Maybe permanently this time... The universe cannot fully fix itself. My job is to keep it intact," I smiled at him. "You ready to stop prolonging this and say our goodbyes now?"
"Alright..." He sighed. "Goodbye Venetra. I really do hope I see you again."
"Goodbye Cyfrin, and I will see you again. I'll be back before you know it," I patted him on the shoulder and brushed off my cloak to get ready to lift off.
"Don't forget how I feel about you either," he teared up as I began to float.
"I promise I won't," I reassured him.
He waved and I began to fly further and further away from him. This was going to be for the best. I didn't want Cyfrin to lose his short life because of me. I cared too much about the fellow.
POV- Cyfrin
The moment she left, I began to cry. I couldn't handle her leaving for an unknown amount of time. She was officially gone from my sights now. I began to play music of sorrow in the vast amount of snow.
The music flew through the air for great lengths. I didn't have much to play since my heart was full of tears.
I eventually stopped playing and began to drop tears into the icy snow. I screamed into the sky praying she would come back. I had to stop crying, but something inside me kept going. My heart was full of pain and agony. After many moments, I finally forced myself to stop.
I heard scratching along the snow. This was not Sereniti. A creature with a mask was in the distance of the growing blizzard. It had a slender body with plenty of legs to scoot it along. I got up from my knees and had my instruments by my side. It began to get close enough to where I could hear small clicks and noises. Was it speaking to me?
I grabbed one of my small string instruments and began to play to hopefully deter it away from me. In that case, it didn't work. As it got even closer, I could see a sack on it's back. I leaned my head to see a body in the sack.
"I may not know what you're trying to say to me, but show me what's in the bag," I huffed.
It continued to click at me and make unknown noises. I began to play my music louder to deafen the creature. I played and played to try and deter it away. With my greatest efforts, it didn't work.
I could see the sack had a small hole in it from a sword. There was obvious struggle. The bag was slashed open and then I saw her.
Sereniti.
