Chapter 18 Teaching is hard

The next day, I let Monika and Flowey play Pokemon on my DS so that I could teach Sanemi, Maki, Villager and Isabelle in peace.

I sorta felt like asking Monika for help, well, she was going to help but Monika saw my DS and saw me playing Pokemon on it and she so wanted to play, so I told her she could play while I teach.

She was unsure at first, but I know that she loves the game so far.

Anyways, I walked in the living room- (Monika and Flowey were playing Pokemon Sun & Moon on the table) - and saw Sanemi, Maki , Villager and Isabelle down on the floor, obviously unsure of what to do.

I smile and walk over.

"Alright, you guys ready?"

Villager and Isabelle nod excitedly. Sanemi looks away with a red tint, obviously too embarrassed to speak, but he nods slightly. Maki also nods.

"Yes. I believe we are all ready."

I smile.

"Great! Alright, so first-"

I take out a book. It's a book from my childhood.

"Alright, here you go, Villager and Isabelle"

Villager and Isabelle brighten up as I took out another book. It was called 'the itsy bitsy spider'.

"This book worked well with my little brothers, so here."

I handed Isabelle and Villager the book.

"What I want you to do is read it and try to say the words-if a word is too hard or you don't know how to pronounce it, I'll help you right away, ok?"

They nod and begin reading. I turned to Sanemi and Maki.

"Ok, so I'm gonna write the alphabet and show you what each word is pronounced like, ok?"

They both nod.

Gosh, they are so quiet about this.

I write the Abc's and then flip the paper.

"Alright, this is 'A', I'm sure you already know that. Anyways, in english, it's pronounced like 'ahhh', ok? The B goes like 'bu', ok?"

I begin showing them the rest. They nod along. Then I write down a word. It was 'tap'. I wrote down another word and it was 'bad'.

"Alright, take the knowledge I just taught you, and read. Maki, you read this one."

I pointed to tap. She nodded and began reading it.

"T...a...p...tap."

I nodded. I could tell she was only pronouncing it out, not because she can't speak english, but because she couldn't read english-I guess that was sorta obvious though.

"Very good, Maki! Your turn, Sanemi!"

He looked at the paper and then at me

"Bad?"

He said, but it was sorta a question sentence. I nod.

"Yeah! You got it! Now, say both words."

Maki was the one who said both of them.

"Tap bad....what does that mean?"

"It's a reference that I'm bad at tap dancing."

"...."

Sanemi and Maki stare at me plainly.

"...Well, anyways, I'm gonna write two different sentences, Maki, you'll read one, and Sanemi you'll read the other, how does that sound?"
