Chapter 3 Getting to know each other

We watched Pokemon until it was 1:00, where we all got hungry.

I got up.

"Alright, well, you guys hungry? I'm gonna go get cup of noodles, what about you guys?"

Monika smiles at me.

"Whatever you want, Maddie!"

Maki nods slightly at me, refusing to talk. I sighed and just decided to make everyone a cup of noodles-I'm a terrible cook.

After cooking, I placed the cup of noodles on the table and went back into the living room.

"Alright guys, come to the kitchen! Time to eat!"

Maki got up silently and Monika nods and gets up.

She beams at the food.

"Maddie, this looks amazing!"

Maki looks confused at Monika, then looks at me.

"Isn't your name 'Ender'?"

"Yeah (no), but Maddie is a nickname."

"...I see..."

"...Well uh-just pick any one you would like!"

I told them. I sit down on the one from the other side, and Monika sits across from me, and Maki sits besides Monika.

We ate in silence for a few minutes, but I was sick of the silence so I gave a little cough.

"So uh...in order to get everyone more used to each other, we should get to know each other. Alright?"

Maki didn't look amused, while Monika did, perhaps because she wanted to know more about me.

"Alright! Lets do it!"

Monika cheered. Maki sighs.

"How?"

"Well-lets play '20 questions', you guys ask me 20 questions-10 from Monika and 10 from Maki. Then we do it with you and Monika, sound good?"

Maki groaned, not really wanting to participate, while Monika beamed at the idea.

"Alright!"

"Fine, but nothing too personal, got it?"

I nodded.

"Yeah, sure! Sounds good!"

"Alright! I'll ask my questions first!"

Monika raises her hand. Maki nods.

"Alright, so first question...whats your favorite restaurant?"

"In-and-out-burger. I just like it."

"Ok."

Monika takes out a notepad and writes something down. Maki looks at it and makes a confused face.

"Alright, next question. Whats your favorite video game???"

"It's-...."

Dang it. She probably wants it to be her video game. Well, gotta be honest.

"...It's Undertale."

It's a good game. Monika nods and writes it down, not looking disappointed in the least.

"Okkk....next question, whats your favorite movie???"

"Too easy, Sonic 2."

"Ok..."

Monika writes it down again. Maki just makes a more confused look.

"Ok! Favorite show?"

"Pokemon!"

"Got it. Favorite romance movie?"

"...Uhm...."

I had to really think. The only romance movies I really know is Hallmark movies-my Mom LOVES those.

"Hm...I think mine is....I actually don't know."

"Oh...ok! Well, thats ok! Next question, whats your favorite food?"

"I think mine would be...What I'm eating right now?"

I don't have a favorite food. Maki looked at me and Monika wrote it down.

"Goootttt it, whats your favorite drink?"

"Orange Fanta or sprite."

Monika nods.

"Favorite comic series?"

"Probably the Sonic comic series or the Marvel or DC comics."

"Ok, do you have siblings?"

"Yep. 2 older, 2 younger."

"Wow...alright, last question, do you like plushies-"

"YES."

I immediately answered. Maki looked confused at me and Monika nods and smiles widely.

"Got it! Now your turn, Maki!"

"Uhm...ok. Why did you let me stay here?"

"Because you have nowhere else to go"

"Ok..."

Maki just asked about small things, like favorite color. Though her last question caught me off guard.

"Who's your favorite character in my video game?"

"...Well uh-..."

There's no way I could say it's Kokichi. I can't say that. I have to make it up-

"It's uh-....Keebo."

"Hm...ok."

Monika wrote down something and Maki gave an approving nod. I wonder if she would've death stared me instead if I answered truthfully.

"Alright, well, now our turn to ask Monika questions!"

I knew pretty much everything about Monika and Maki so I just said I didn't need to ask.

"What do you mean there was supposed to be no violence in your game?"

"Whats it like to be an assassin?"

They would ask each other questions like that. The answer was always like

"Well...I deleted everyone and everything because...they didn't make my own ending in the game."

"..."

"I don't like talking about that. I hate it. And it's...it's personal."

Things went like that. Monika felt better about Maki and Maki felt better about us after that. We then watched Pokemon until the day was done. Maki slept on the couch, Monika slept with me-she doesn't want to be alone.
