Eating, drinking, sleeping.

I've seen it so many times...

Person A: Lives for a week, doesn't eat, doesn't sleep, no water.

They aren't alive.

You need to make your characters eat at least some point in the story. You don't need to leave a detailed description of what they ate but just reassuring your readers that your character is being nourished and has a bed to sleep in is good.

If your character is working out, they have a water bottle. If your character has been out and about, unless they're on coke they're going to sleep.

If your character has been on an all day hike with no food, their first thought is going to be of food.

You need to be realistic and care for your characters.

Unless... *cough* *cough* Immortals *cough* *cough*
