I already did a chapter on this but I didn't really explain the rules. This started when I was editing one of my classmate's reports. They didn't know what a proper noun was.

Let's start with what a noun is.

A noun is a person, a place, or a thing.

A proper noun is a specified noun:

Jimmy Urine

Fresno, California

A common noun is just a person, place or thing without a given identity.

The basketball

Some country

You also capitolize the word 'I.' 'I' is a proper noun because it is referring to the person who's point of view the writing is from.

Then here's the biggie. You capitolize at the beginning of a sentence. Magic right?

Examples:

(BAD BAD BAD) my friend asked me for cocaine money but i don't approve of drugs.

(GOOD GOOD GOOD) My friend asked me for pot money but he couldn't pay me back.

I think my view on drugs just showed. Oh wait, I have a chapter for that.

While on the subject of drugs... There's this amazing fanfic called "Devil's work" and it's a frerard.

I have ONE issue with it.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

In the end, before the sequel, Frank's aunt and uncle kick him out because they find weed.

Now although I have a stable, good relationship with my mom, my dad's relationship with me and my brother is fucked up. I'll tell you why this is relevant.

My brother smokes pot. He smokes it frequently. My dad has caught him smoking before. My dad is just about the most religious man you'll ever meet.

Frank is a tagger in the story.

My brother has gotten caught tagging, I've expirienced this first hand as I am his look out.

My brother has gotten caught by my dad abusing hydrocodone and oxycodone which, if he were an adult, could land felony charges.

This is so unrealistic. Nobody would kick someone out for finding fucking pot.
