Story titles are really hard to get right. It takes AGES to come up with one that will ultimately satisfy you.
A good story title:
A.) Relates to the story
B.) Is memorable
And C.) Sounds good
Sometimes foreshadowing an important quote is good, an example would be naming a book, "Truth is Muscle" if in the book, that appeared.
I am again guilty of this, unless it's a songfic, please don't directly take a song's title as your title.
So many people do this and quite frankly it's unoriginal and annoying.
If you quote a song or have a few words from the title then yeah, again that's fine. (Ex. Neverending Disenchantment.) Oh hey, I just came up with that and I like it..
Cancer is different because it's a disease name and a book about the fUCKING DISEASE SO SHUT UP!
One-word song titles are somewhat different. I wouldn't get pissed at a fanfiction about a recovering smoker who has lung cancer who meets Brendon Urie called, "Nicotine" because it fits and it's simple.
On the other hand, a Fall Out Boy fanfic titled "Immortals" may be annoying unless it's a mythological god/goddess AU. (SOMEBODY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THAT!!!)
If you have a fanfic named, "Dancing With Myself," First of all, what the fuck, you don't write Billy Idol fanfiction.... Secondly, that's a full, more than one word song title.... Hisss....
