This can drive people completely insane. I quit out when I see this.
I kid you not I just clicked on a fanfic and I saw this, "Hello, my name is _ _ and this is my story. im 17 years old. my dad abuses me, i donmt know why.."
It had names and stuff but yeah, you get my point.
Lets give you some examples of good and bad introductions.
Third Person POV good-
Amber stepped along the dirty streets of Detroit with her head down. It's not that she was sad, she just didn't think it would be wise for Detroit's most wanted murderer to be seen in the open. She had gotten caught shoplifting and if they took her in and matched her fingerprints, they'd know the grey eyed, blonde haired beauty was at fault for those poor men's deaths.
Same situation Third person POV bad-
Amber walked Detroit alone. She was famous as a murderer and didn't want to get caught. She had grey eyes and blonde hair. She was only 16 years old. After a clerk seeing her shoplifting she was forced to run, finding herself in the current situation.
The bad one gave you more information but you don't just straight up say "They looked like _."
First person POV good-
"Crap," I muttered under my breath, running a hand through my short brown hair.
"Can you explain to me, Mr. Robertson, why your homework is missing for the third day in a row?" Ms. Adams asked me.
"Uh well yesterday I had a doctor's appointment and the day before I turned 18," I tried.
"You had a doctor's appointment every day last week and on Monday Robertson, I'm afraid I may have to call your father."
First person POV bad-
My name is Andrew Robertson. I have brown hair and I just turned 18. My math teacher, Ms. Adams hates me because I never turn in my homework.
You guys get it? This could majorly fuck up your story if you do a shitty intro.
