Chapter 37

"I love you too, bambina! More than you'll ever know!"

It was 11am when the two couples arrived at the italian's family house. When the door was opened, Danielle tensed up. Stefania was holding her hand and noticed her tension, so, the brunette just leaned in and kissed her cheek with love, saying:

"Calm down, bella. I love you! Nothing is gonna change this. 😉🥰"

The blonde immediately relaxed.

"Stefania, ciao sorellina. Mi manchi di te, sorella!"  (Stefania, hi little sister. I missed you, sis!)
"Daniela, ciao. Anch'io mi manchi di te, mia sorella!" (Daniela, hi. I missed you too, sister!)

When the older italian came to hug Stefania, Danielle tried to let go of her hand, but the taller woman didn't let her.

"Sorella, voglio che tu conosca Danielle, la mia fidanzata e l'amore della mia vita." (Sister, I want you to know Danielle, my girlfriend and the love of my life.)

The blue-eyed girl blushed.

"Ciao Danielle! Stato un piacere conocerti, bella! (Hi Danielle!  Nice to meet you, bella)
"Ciao Daniela! Il piacere è tutto mio!" (Hi Daniela! The pleasure is all mine!)
"Oh, perfetto Stef. Lei parla italiano 😁. Benvenuta in famiglia, bella! (Oh, perfect Stef. She can speak italian. Welcome to the family, bella!)
"Grazie!" (Thank you!)
"Dani, this is Stephanie, Dani's sister and Connor, her boyfriend." The brunette introduced them in English because she wasn't sure if Connor speaks italian.
"Nice to meet you, guys! Come in. Everyone is really excited to see y'all!"

The cardiologist was much more relaxed. The Ob/Gyn turned to her, asking how she was feeling and the blonde said she was great. So, the brunette pecked her lips smiling happily.

"Where is Salvattore, Vittoria and dad?"
"Oh, Vittoria is at the university, but she will be soon here. Sal and dad went to the supermarket. They will be back soon as well."
"Alright. Dani, amore mio, wanna look around? Steph and Connor as well?" The hazel-eyed girl invited.
"Sure!" The surgeon replied with a wide smile.
"Ok. Then, let's go." The Ob/Gyn invited.

When they reached the pool, Stefania heard a familiar voice. That gave her a huge smile.

"Zia Stef!" (Aunt Stef!)
"Vittoria!"

The girl ran to her aunt and threw herself on top of her, almost knocking over Stefania and Danielle.

"Aspetta bambina! Hahahahaha. (Wait bambina! Hahahahha)
"Scusi." (Sorry.)
"It's okay. Vitt, this is Danielle, my fidanzata."
"Oh, finally! Hi aunt Dani. It's such a pleasure to meet you!"
"Hi Vittoria. The pleasure is all mine!"

The younger girl hugged  the blue-eyed girl and stated:

"I feel like I know you since ever. My aunt can't stop talking about you."
"Oh, can't she?" The american asked smiling like a silly girl and litting up.
"Okay, enough, Vitt. Hahahaha."
"Absolutely not! Vittoria, tell me more." Danielle said amused.

When the younger Spampinato was going to start to speak again, Stefania introduced Connor and Stephanie. The girl just whispered to Danielle:

"I'll tel you later!" And winked at her. The ocean-eyed girl laughed.

The conversation was doing great. Everybody was having an amazing time. Suddenly, Salvattore and Vicenzo arrived and joined them. Once again, the cardiologist got tense, but they were really amazing at her. Salvattore took the blonde off the floor and began to hug her with affection, welcoming her to the family. And Vicenzo... well, the old man was pure attention, care and affection for his daughter-in-law.

Danielle was on cloud nine. Stefania's family was wonderful and they accepted her very well. They treated her like a member of the family. With Stephanie and Connor it was the same.

Around 1:30pm they all sat at the poolside table for lunch. It was an amazing luch, with all kinds of pasta a d good wine. After lunch, they kept talking when the doorbel rang.

"Are you waiting for someone, Daniela?" Stefania asked.
"Nope." The older Spampinato sister replied.
"Mmm, this might be my fault." Salvattore stated.
"What do you mean?" Danielle asked smiling.
"When we were at the supermarket, we met Gabriela and..."
"Tesoro! Ah tesoro non posso credere che tu sia qui." (Treasure! Ah treasure, I can't believe you're here!)

Gabriella entered yelling and threw herself on top of Stefania who barely had time to dodge.

Everyone was surprised by the nonsense attitude of the new arrival.

"Hi Gabri. How are you?" The Ob/Gyn said visibly uncomfortable.
"Ti mostrerò come sono..." (I'll show you how am I...)

And then, without giving the hazel-eyed girl any chance to react, Gabriella kissed Stefania.

Everyone was quiet, completely in shock and afraid of Danielle's reaction. Stephanie took her sister's arm and mouthed her:

"Calm down!"

Stefania pushed the other italian and yelled:

"What the fuck is this, Gabriela? Are you fucking out of your mind? Who gave you the freedom to do this, you demented!? Get the hell out of here! NOW!"

Gabriela was stuck, shocked up by the brunette's reaction.

"B-but tesoro..."
"Don't you dare to "tesoro" me! Shut the fuck up!"
"Stefania, I..."
"Look Gabriela, I don't know where did you got this absurd idea from, but don't you ever dare to do that again, do you understand?"

The green-eyed girl didn't say a word.

"ARE WE CLEAR, GABRIELA?" Stefania asked once again, now even more pissed with the lack of answer.
"B-but..."
"No ifs or buts. This is my girlfriend, the woman I love and the only one who is allowed to kiss my lips and climb on my lap." The brunette said pointing to Danielle and taking her hand in hers.
"W-what? G-girlfriend? Stef, what...?"
"I don't owe you any explanation. I've never had nothing with you. Anything but friendship. This is all you need to know. Danielle is my girlfriend, the woman I love and I will get married. The future mom of my children. So, don't you dare to do that again!"

Gabriela was crying. Salvattore took her inside and asked what she was thinking about to do something like that.

"Sal, I love her!"
"But she doesn't love you back. Never did! You had no right to do that! When I told you Stefania was here, I could never imagine you'd be capable to do something like that. I think it's better you leave, Gabriela."

The italian had no option but to leave.

Outside, everyone was trying to calm Stefania, includding Danielle. Salvattore went towards his sister apologizing. He was really upset.

"Sorellina, per favore, scusami! Non avevo idea che questa pazza l'avrebbe fatto. Ci siamo incontrati al supermercato ed ero così felice che tu fossi qui e che ci avresti presentato Danielle che ho finito per parlare di te. Ma non avevo idea che sarebbe venuta qui... Dio mio!" (We met at the supermarket and I was so happy that you were here and I was so happy that you were going to introduce us to Danielle that I ended up talking to her about you. But I had no idea that she'd even come here... my God!)

Vicenzo was pissed at Gabriela. He got up saying he'd grab the woman by the neck. And then the blue-eyed girl spoke up:

"Guys, please."

Then everyone went silent immediately. Only Stefania's sobs and sniffles could be heard. The blonde then stated:

"No one will do anything to this woman. Sal has already taken her out of here. Is there a place where I can talk to you, Stef? Just the two of us?"

The hazel-eyed girl felt the ground slip from her feet.

"Bambina, please..."
"Stef, baby, can we just talk?" The american tried to sound as smooth as possible.

Stephanie reasoned with her sister...

"Dani, come on, it wasn't her fault..."
"Steph, please, not now.

Stefania just said:

"Let's go to my old room, bambina." And left with her head down, looking at the floor, sobbing a lot and feeling defeated. She didn't want to hear what she was almost sure the blonde would say her, but she wouldn't be able to avoid it. So, she had to face the consequences..."
