Chapter 52

"And wiping some tears that insisted on falling from their eyes, both sisters went downstairs happily, knowing that love had finally arrived for the youngest of the Spampinatos."

When the brunette got down she saw her beautiful girlfriend talking happily to Salvatore. She stopped for a while just to admire her woman interacting to her family. The unpleasant incident of the day they met and then of the next day was completely left behind.

They were laughing when Danielle felt a pair of hands hugging her from behind. This made her instantly melt.

"Hi my love! I missed you, baby!"
"I missed you too, bambina! A lot!"
"Dio mio, Stef, hai lasciato Dani qui da solo nemmeno 5 minuti fa..." (God, Stef, you left Dani here alone not even 5 minutes ago...) Salvatore said laughing.

The brunette showed her middle finger to her brother.

"Come on, Sal, this is so cute!" Da ielle defended her girlfriend.
"Jesus, you both were really meant to be! I can't with you!" The man said amused.
"Sal, in a world of temporary options, your sister is my permanent coice!" The blue-eyed girl stated in love.
"Bambina, you didn't just touch my heart. You labelled it as yours!"  The Ob/Gyn replied staring at her girlfriend's  blue eyes. Her favorite pair of blue eyes in the world.
"Oh, I can't with you both. Madonna mia!!!"
"Actually, could you give my fidanzata back, fratellino?"
"She's all yours!"
"Oh, you can bet on this, Sal!" The cardiologist said facing Stefania's eyes.

The man rolled his eyes playfully.

"Is everything all right, honey?" The blonde asked.
"More than all right, bella! I just want my girl for a couple of minutes."
"Mmm, is that an invitation, doc Spampi?"
"Oh, as much as I want this as much as you, bella, we're gonna have to wait a little bit, amore mio."

Danielle pouted, knowing perfectly well the effect of this act over her girlfriend.

"Don't start, please my love. Come here, I have something for you."

The surgeon got curious, and followed the love of her life. Suddenly she saw the hazel-eyed girl taking a box and coming up to her saying:

"Danielle, you're the person with whom I smile without any reason, even when I'm sad. Just by seeing you or talking to you I forget all my sadness. You're that person who makes an ordinary day become a super special day. A day when I'm sad you turn it into the best possible, for the simple fact that you're present. You can make me happy, you can make me smile every day, even when we are faraway (which, thanks God, there are few moments). I will never leave you, I will always be with you, taking care of you and demonstrating every single day that you are and will always be the greatest love of my whole life! So, to remind you about this at all times, I want to give you this. Ti amo per sempre, amore mio!" (I love you forever, my love!)

Danielle was crying with emotion. When she opened the box, she found a beautiful platinun necklace with a white gold pendant set with diamonds in the shape of a heart engraved: "Ti amo per sempre, bambina" (I love you forever, bambina). She couldn't stop crying. But it was tears of happiness. She immediately asked Stefania to put the necklace on her. The italian did what she was told and then the blonde turned to kiss her girlfriend with so much love.

After a really passionate kiss, the cardiologist stepped back, smiling wide and excused herself for a second. Then Vicenzo gave her something and the blue-eyed girl was smiling like a child, with sparkling eyes.

The obstetrician was curious  to know what was going on. Then, her girlfriend came after her saying:

"Stef, it's kinda crazy how you just popped into my life without any warning, out of nowhere and all of a sudden you became so important to me in a little time. But I guess that's what makes life interesting. There's always a reason to be hopeful for the future because you never know what kind of amazing things could come next. Sometimes, I get quiet, just staring at you because I simply don't understand or can't even describe how perfect is the sensation of being with you! You are everything my heart askes every single day. You're everething my heart makes a point to have day by day. So, my love, I want to give you this... I love you so much, Stefania. I'm so in love with you, in a way I've never been before in my life!"

When the Ob/Gyn opened the box, she found a platinun necklace with lots of diamonds. The hazel-eyed girl was really surprised and couldn't avoid the tears...

"Bambina, this is so beautiful!"
"Did you like it, honey?"
"Are you kidding me? I loved it!"
"Really?" The blonde asked staring completely in love.
"Really! Could you help me with this, amore mio?"

After putting the jewel in Stefania's neck, the blue-eyed girl turned her girlfriend and stared at her beautiful face with heart eyes. Then, the brunette leaned in for a passionate Kiss.

"How did you..." The italian asked smiling after breaking the kiss.
"Well, I had a little help... haha"
"No! Hahahaha. Papá?"
"Guilty!" Vicenzo confirmed smiling wide. "I had to take my daughter-in-law to the jewelry..."
"B-but the exams..."
"Love, I swear your dad is perfectly good. We went after the exams." The surgeon said.
"I love you!" Stefania said smiling.
"I love you more,  aby!"

The couple kissed in love. Smiling during the kiss and repeating all the time "I love you."

After a little time, Vicenzo cleaned his throat...

"Well, in my Lucia's family was a beautiful tradition: when their daughters found real love, her parentes used to gift them with a jewel to remind them about the power of love and how they should take care of it. Love is one of the most precious things in life, it's splendourouss! It makes us better people, it teaches us about the meaning of loyalty, care, altruism, generosity, but above it all, it teaches us that the greatest way to love is to renounce ourselves in the name of those we love!"

So Daniela joined her father, adding:

"And all this we can easily see between you, Stefania and you, Danielle. So, we kind of adapted this beautiful tradition a little bit."
"My daughter, I know that you lived a dark period. You suffered a lot with the loss of your mamma, and I know that this still hurts you, and it always will. In addition to that pain, you experiensed disillusionment. When you most needed the one who you thought that loved you, she left you in a cruel and cowardly way. But just when you were most hopeless you met Danielle, this rare and unique person that takes care of you, values you, but above it all, loves you so much. Your mamma would be very proud and happy, because this is all she always wanted for you, figlia mia! So, I want to give you this, my daughter, just to remind you that love has to be cared like a jewel. Take care of your precious and rare jewel, Stefania!" (The man said those words facing the blue-eyed girl.)

When the Ob/Gyn opened the box, she found a very delicated platinun bracelet with diamonds. The brunette couldn't help but shed some tears.

"I promise you, dad, I will! She's my only one! I promise I will be everything she wants and needs! My precious jewel!" (The italian said it staring at the cardiologist, who with teary eyes, smiled in love).
