We arrive at our camp for the night.

Legolas helps me down.

"Thank you, Nin mel."

"You're welcome, Aurë."

We walk over to Èomer with Gimli.

We look at the restless horses.

"The horses are restless."

"They grow nervous in the shadow of the mountain." Èomer says.

"That road there, where does it lead?"

"It is the road to the Dimholt, the door under the mountain." Legolas answers.

"None who venture there ever return. That mountain is evil."

~later~

I was asleep in a tent when someone gently shakes me awake.

"We're leaving, Aurë." Legolas says

I sit up tiredly. "Huh? Why?"

"Aragorn is venturing into the mountains, he plans on going alone but, we are not going to let that happen are we?"

I stand up. "Of course not."

I grab my weapons and we leave the tent.

We walk up to Aragorn, Legolas leading our horse.

"Have you learned nothing of the stubbornness of dwarves?" Legolas asks with a slight grin.

"That's right, we're going with you laddie."

I cross my arms. "I can't believe you were going to leave without saying goodbye."

"Wait, where's Kylaney? Is she not coming?"

"I told her that she must stay with her people and fight."

"There's no way she agreed to that she's too stubb- she told you didn't she?"

He nods. "Yes, I told her I cannot give her what she seeks..."

"But you sent Arwen away because she's immortal, but Kylaney's is mortal like you, and she cares about you."

"Arwen chose a mortal life."

My eyes widen. "What? I don't know what's worse, never seeing my best friend again or having to watch her die..."

"I know it's hard for you, but this is what she chose."

I nod sadly.

Legolas hugs me. I hug back for a second then I pull away.

"Let's just go."

I mount my horse, Legolas hops on behind me.

Aragorn and Gimli mount their horse.

"Are you alright Aurë?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." I answer.

~at the end of the path~

Most of the ride I was comprehending that I will have to watch Arwen die.

Legolas told Gimli about the men of the mountain, though, I tuned out most of it.

"The very warmth of my blood is stolen away." Gimli says.

Legolas reads the wording on the door. "The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead. And the dead keep it. The way is shut."

We dismount our horses. The horses go crazy. A gust of wind comes out of the tunnel. Legolas and Aragorn loose hold of of the reins and the horses run off.
