Burgundy and Lucas ended up deciding to play a board game together since it was one way to fill any awkward silence as they got to know one another. She had the urge to check her phone but knew there would be no point, plus, she didn't want to deal with explaining anything to Lucas.

"Lucas, do you copu? It's Mike. Lucas?"

Lucas immediately faced Burgundy, "Can I?"

"Sure." Burgundy shrugged her shoulders, "I'll just clean up and head to bed."

Lucas pulled the antenna out of the walkie-talkie as Burgundy gathered the game pieces, "Hey, it's Lucas."

"I know it's you. And say over when you're done talking so I know when you're done. Over."

Lucas scoffed but complied, "I'm done. Over." His reaction only made Burgundy laugh because it was rather amusing.

"I'm worried about Will. Over."

"Yeah... This is crazy." Lucas murmured. Speaking of crazy, he looked over at the teenager living with his family. "Over."

"I was thinking Will could've cast Protection last night, but he didn't. He cast Fireball. Over."

"Okay?" Lucas dragged this out, "What's your point? Over."

"He put himself in danger to help the party. Over."

Lucas looked back at Burgundy as he contemplated whether or not he wanted her to hear this. But he decided he didn't care, "Meet me in ten. Over and out." He pushed the antenna back in and faced her. "You see-"

"Wouldn't your mother kill you if you snuck out?" Burgundy questioned him without even looking up from the game box.

Lucas let out a nervous noise, "Well, I don't-It's just-"

"If you tell me what's going on..." Burgundy finally looked over at him with a grin on her face, "I'll cover for you."

He shot her a quizzical look, "Why would you want to help me?"

Burgundy shrugged her shoulders, "Maybe cause you're winning the game of Monopoly."

Lucas couldn't stop the sheepish smile from appearing on his face, "You've got to promise you won't tell my mom that I'm sneaking out."

Burgundy raised a hand up, "Pinky promise."

"No." Lucas spat in the palm of his hand, "By bond."

With a disgusted expression, Burgundy took a moment and finally shrugged. She spat in her own hand and then clasped hers to his, "Promise."

Lucas informed her of the situation with their friend Will Byers and how he had gone missing the other night. He then said that they were going to search for him despite being told not to do so.
