Mabel had basically searched around the entire open area of the school in search of her friends. But they were nowhere to be found. And that was when she realized that they were probably out doing something stupid. She walked over toward the kids, who were all huddled around each other, "So everyone is gone but us 'cause Jonathan's car is gone."
"They're probably sucking faces and stuff-"
Mabel scrunched her face up, "Nope, that is most definitely not the case."
"Did they go with the chief?"
"Hopkins?" Mabel crossed her arms over her chest and let out a sigh, "I don't know. I don't think so."
"No."
"What?" Mike looked over at El, "Did you see them? Do you know where they went?"
"Yes."
"Where? Where did they go?"
"Demogorgon."
Mabel's eyes widened in complete horror and her mouth dropped open, "They went where now? Oh, my God. No, no, no!"
"You need to go after them."
Mabel immediately looked over at Dustin, "I can't just leave you all here?"
"We're safe in the school." Dustin pushed, "We can stay hidden here and you find and bring them back as fast as you can."
"Shoot-" Mabel ran a hand down her face, "Okay, uh- Find something for El to eat so she can get her strength back and I will be back as soon as I can."
Meanwhile, Steve sat in his car for a while after pulling over on the side of the road. He wanted to talk to Jonathan and just apologize to him. He wanted to start fresh and prove to Nancy that he can be better. That he can be better than Tommy and Carol. He said such cruel things to Jonathan and that was not fair for him to do. He allowed his jealousy to get the better of him and he should not have done what he did.
Finally, he started his car back up and started to drive. That was when he caught sight of Mabel, who was running and soaking wet. He furrowed his brows and trailed behind her. Maybe he could start being better by being kind to her. "Mabel-"
Mabel stopped in her tracks and looked at the face in the window, "Harrington? What the fuck happened to you? You look like you were hit in the face by a car."
Steve shut his eyes at her comment and cleared his throat, "I just-I messed up. Uh... Do you need a ride?"
"Don't you think you should maybe see a doctor? You might permanently fuck up your pretty face." Mabel was not a fan of his. He was rude and terrible for no reason. "Piss off."
Steve cursed and continued to trail beside her, "Hey, Hey, Mabel, I-I'm sorry for being a dick. Okay. I'm trying to make everything better, especially after the fight-"
