Burgundy ended up having to walk to school after Mrs. Sinclair informed her that Lucas was not going to go to school. She couldn't even blame him. She would probably want to just stay in bed if she was told that Daphne's body was found. She furrowed her brows while she walked ahead, just worried about how that family must feel right now. She ran a hand down the front of her face with a long sigh as a car suddenly stopped in front of her.
"Burgundy."
She blinked at the sight of Joyce and Jonathan, "Oh... Hi..." Her voice was soft, "How are you holding up?"
"We're-" Jonathan glanced over at his mom, who just stared blankly ahead, "We're holding up."
Burgundy looked into the car and gripped onto the strap of her backpack, "Would you both like some company?"
Jonathan appeared surprised at her question before he nodded his head, "Y-Yeah, that would be nice. Thank you."
"Of course-" She opened the back door of the car and shimmied into the backseat. She knew that Mabel and Marcus would definitely be worried about her, but she couldn't take it back. "I'm here for you guys."
Her friends would understand. And maybe she could learn new things about these disappearances since Daphne was gone as well now.
As they pulled up, Burgundy noticed Chief Hopper waiting for them. As she got out of the car, he grew confused, "Uh... Miss Eliott."
"Hello, Chief Hopper." Burgundy waved her hand before tucking her hands into the pockets of her jacket, "It's nice to see you again... wish it could be under better circumstances."
"Right..." Hopper looked down at her and then turned his attention to Jonathan, "They're waiting for you inside, Burgundy, you can wait with me."
"Sure." Burgundy didn't really have the energy to argue with him and she didn't want to make a scene in front of Joyce. So she stayed in the waiting room with Hopper and just sunk in the chair.
"So-" Hopper leaned back in his seat, "You two friends?"
"I wouldn't say that." Burgundy admitted truthfully to him, "I mean, we could be and I think he could really use a friend. I-I sympathize with him, I guess."
"Hm."
"What?" Burgundy shot the cop a look, "What's with that reaction?"
"Nothing."
Burgundy clicked her tongue, "Have you gotten anything on Barb and Daphne?"
"What?"
"Did Nancy Wheeler not call the police?" Burgundy grew even more irritated with Nancy at this moment, "Are you fucking kidding me?"
"I'll send a couple of people to the Holland home and confirm with the parents."
"And Daphne?"
Hopper cleared his throat, "I'll check in with the Wheelers when I can."
