Staying with Lucas was definitely a good choice for Mabel. It was good for her to make sure he was safe, but finding out that this huge lab was where the gate originated was a lot. But then to see that the people were in vans that she had seen around town. And as a dozen of those vans left the facility, that was when Lucas and her realized that they were most likely going into town.
Mabel was on the bike, pedaling as fast as she could go and heaved heavily before yelling, "Lucas! You need to warn them!"
"I'm trying!" Lucas screamed, his breathing just as heavy as Mabel's at the moment. He was yelling into his walkie-talkie, "They know about Eleven!"
Mabel wished she had a walkie-talkie as well at this point and called out, "Are we even in range!?"
"I don't know!" Lucas shot back at her as he tried to go faster, "Son of a bitch!" He could feel every muscle in his body pleading for him to stop riding his bike. But then he suddenly heard a jumble of static from his walkie, "Yes, I cop! Do you! They know about Eleven! Get out of there! They know about Eleven! The bad men are coming! All of them! Do you hear me? The bad men are coming!"
Mabel could feel her core burn, "Oh, my God! Did they answer?"
"No!" Lucas answered, "I don't think they understood me."
"How close are we to Mike's house?"
"Not close enough!" Lucas groaned loudly. He may not have been a fan of Eleven, but that did not mean he wanted her and his friends to be in danger.
Mabel shut her eyes and muttered out, "Oh, my god, I need a car."
"Dustin!" Lucas called out for them again, "Dustin, do you copy?"
"Yeah, Lucas, they're on us."
Lucas cursed under his breath, "Where are you?"
"Cornwallis."
Lucas glanced up to see exactly where he currently was, "Meet me and Mabel at Elm and Cherry!"
"Copy. Elm and Cherry! Okay."
Mabel shot her head over at Lucas, "Where the fuck is Elm and Cherry!?"
Lucas suddenly made a sharp turn, almost causing Mabel to slam on her brakes, "Follow me!"
"Fuck, fuck, fuck-" Mabel mumbled under her breath as she continued after Lucas. "Fuck!"
"Shut up!"
"I am panicking, Lucas! Leave me alone!"
Mike swerved when he finally ran into them, "Lucas! Mabel!"
Mabel put her feet on the ground to stop her movement, "Where are they?"
"I don't know."
Dustin just smiled at the group, "I think we lost them."
That sentence made Mabel incredibly anxious. And like clockwork, she turned around to see the vans were coming around the corner, "Nope! Nope! No one lost anyone! High tail out of there!"
