enhypen // that feeling when

I KEEP waving my hand in front of Cady's stone-hard face as she chants Rylie's name with tears streaming down her face, her pupils dilated as she stares out of the window, as if he was standing right there.

"Just notice me, please," she repeats into the distance, even reaching out to touch him, and I sigh. "Why are you treating me like I didn't exist?"

She must really miss Rylie a lot.

Sighing, I gesture for the students around us to give her some space, and stand up, dragging Cadence by her armpits into a reading room nearby and stuffing a romance I randomly grabbed off the shelf into her hands.

I know Gwyneth told us to keep an eye on the border, but this is going to be better for Cady, and I trust Gwyn to understand. "Read well," I say before backing out of the room and slowly closing the door behind me. "I'll come back later. Stay here."

I massage my temples with my fingers a few times in frustration of Cadence's behavior, before returning to the desk by the window and snapping my open sketchbook shut; deciding to pace in the surrounding aisles.

I actually haven't come to the library much, as much as I enjoy reading and drawing. I had always loved the bookstore more than the library, because it's more well-lit, and there were also stationery and drawing supplies, which I would do anything to see.

But the aisles of the library prove to be book paradise, like it's commonly labelled. Books of all genres that I can imagine surround me, the colours returning some normal to our messed-up daily life. I extract a book – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – and flip it open, passing through memory lane, and imagine I'm in that bookstore all those years ago, when my life was like a book of messy doodles, fun, colourful, and full of my own elements.

"Come on, Zoey," Kunboss says, tugging on my shirt sleeve.

Gwyneth swats his hand away briskly. "She's reading, can't you see? She needs quiet, you weirdo," she whispers loudly, and pulls him off to another section of the bookstore.

I smile to myself as Kunboss huffs, letting go of my sleeve, and reluctantly follows Gwyneth away.

I hear their voices arguing in the distance, "I just want her to be quicker and we can go to the park later," he says, whining.

Gwyneth's response is funny, "Shut up. We can go to the park any time. Just let Zey stay here for as long as she wants."

As their voices drift away, I immerse myself in my book once again. Harry zooming away on his Firebolt, being relieved of all his troubles; admiring Cho Chang from afar like a hopeless lovesick puppy; the unavoidable drama for him and his friends just because he's The Chosen One.
