The room was shocking. Shocking enough that Alastor didn't hear Brooklyn behind him, hear her pull out her phone and leave the hallway.

The room was well sized, considering Alastor lived in a tiny low rent apartment anything bigger was awesome. Except what was in the room disturbed him. There was writing on the walls, Alastor knew it was his fathers.

He knew him and Zagen didn't have a good relationship, and that the time he spent here was 'the worst of his life'. But he just thought he was overreacting, like always. The light green wallpaper was burnt at some spots.

But Bernard didn't have fire, only... Damn it! I knew Zagen was off! But was Alastor any better? I robbed a woman, scalded her and probably harmed those two guards. I have no room to talk.

Alastor set the box on the twin bed on the right wall of the room. He closed the door and started to explore around. Not even the closet was spared of writing, it wasn't all over the place, but noticeable.

Alastor looked at one of the walls, reading one of the sentences.

"I hate it here, the fire hurts too much. I can't take it anymore."

Alastor stared at it. The fire?? Was Zagen hurting Bernard as a child with his own fire? Dear god what did I get myself into? He shook his head and opened one of the drawers. As he was about the set some of his new clothes in it when he saw something.

There was a small photo at the bottom of the drawer. One of Bernard and Zagen.

The way both of them were looking at each other, one full of fear and the other hatred

The lack of formal clothes on Bernard, and the happy faces on the both of them surprised Alastor. It must've been before everything happened, before Zagen realized Bernard didn't have the fire.

Zagen better not make me dress formal, I can't with that. Alastor took the photos out and set his clothes down. Then he noticed what they were, some button ups and a black tux. Great. It's too late. He rolled his eyes and let out a sigh.

Alastor set the dress shoes that were in the box next to the drawers. After the box was emptied he took out his phone. He had put it on silent since his dad was spamming him. Well, until he threatened to block him and he stopped.

What a wimp. Alastor turned on his phone to see a new text from his dad. "You better not be at Zagens." Alastors brows furrowed as he read the text. The door slowly creaked open. He looked into the hall as he saw Brooklyn.

Her purple eyes locked with his before she turned and went into her room. Alastor growled and threw his phone, it landing across the room. Since his hands were ungloved the fire was free to run.

His fingertips has little flames on them, threatening to grow. That little- she must've told Bernard! He threw the box, it setting aflame as he touched it. Alastors hands lit on fire at the same time and he let out a small gasp. The fire always seemed to grab his attention, refusing to let go.

He stared at the fire in awe, so much in a trance he didn't notice the door slamming open. Brooklyn stood in the doorway, an unreadable expression on her face.

She disappeared out of the doorway for a moment before returning with a fire extinguisher. She extinguished the fire and gave Alastor a sharp glare.

Her sudden movements woke Alastor out of his trance. His fire extinguished and he returned the glare. "So that's why you're here. I asume Bernard knows that you have... that?" Brooklyn said, gesturing to his hands.

"Yeah he knows, he tried getting a doctor to 'fix' it." Alastor responded, leaning against the drawers behind him. "Well, tell me why you ran." Brooklyn asked, more like a demand than a question.

"Why would I?" Alastor snapped, his anger slowly rising. "Just so you can go and tell Bernard? I'm not dumb Brooklyn, I know you told him!" He yelled, embers appearing around his hands.

Brooklyns eyes widened, Alastor had always seen his aunt as a brave woman. Bernard had always described her as one. But now she didn't look brave, more scared of something not there.

Zagen. She was scared of the fire because of Zagen. Maybe that isn't bad, I could get her off my back with that. "Scared?" He smiled, with a blink of the eye the embers on his hands turned into a large flame.

Brooklyns eyes widened again and she took a step back. "Get out Brooklyn. And don't tell Bernard about any of this, I'm pretty sure you know what the fire can do." He said, taking a step forward as a line of fire appeared.

Brooklyn jumped out of the way, still looking scared out of her mind. "You'll regret this." She growled, leaving the room as she slammed the door. Alastor took another step and all the fire disappeared. Okay, I'm getting better at this.

He got onto the bed, sitting down against the wall. Alastor sighed. He sat against the wall without doing anything for a while, eventually he reached into one of his coat pockets. Taking out a small picture.

"Goodnight mom. I guess you were wrong, I'm gonna end up like grandpa." He said, stopping afterwards and nodding his head like he was listening to someone. He laughed softly. "Okay okay I get it. I can be anything I want I know, but maybe this is what I want. I don't know mom."

Alastor sighed, he blew a small kiss to the picture and put it back into his pocket. He took off his jacket and put it carefully onto a nearby chair. Something was off about this room, Alastor knew it. It wasn't the awful feeling that his father might've lost his mind in here, no something else.

Alastor shook it off and got back into bed. His eyes fluttered before he fell asleep.
