"Dad?" Alastor said, slowly going down the stairs. He saw his father chug down another bottle of liquor, his hair messy and his hands sweaty. "What?" He snapped, slamming the bottle down onto the table. Alastor flinched as the bottle slammed. "I- I can't sleep.." Alastor said.
"I don't care, go sleep with your brother." Bernard said, taking another drink from the bottle. "Can you tuck me in?" Alastor said, before adding. "Mom always did." As soon as he said it Alastor instantly regretted it. Bernard got up from his seat and punched Alastor in the face, sending him flying backwards.
"Don't talk about her." Bernard growled. "Now go to your room before your sleeping on the STREETS!" Bernard yelled, Alastor frantically ran up the stairs. Jumping into his bed as the blood rolled down his face. He had a big cut on his nose.

Alastor jumped awake, breathing heavily. Just a nightmare, it's just a nightmare. Alastor thought to himself, starting to hyperventilate. He sat on the edge of his bed, he wasn't wearing a shirt, he didn't wear one to bed. Only sweat pants. Alastor was sweating all over, his nightmare was one of the memories Alastor blocked out.
He was Truman's age, it happened when his mother first disappeared. When Bernard had snapped, before he went back to his cowardly ways.
Bernard had scared Alastor that day, both emotionally and physically. His relationship with his father was ruined forever, and he had gotten a scar over his nose.
Alastor got sent back to reality as he realized he was still hyperventilating. The door opened for Alastor to see Thaddeus standing in the doorway. "You dying?" He said, staring at Alastor.
"Shut up." Alastor managed to choke out between breaths. "I don't think I will." Thaddeus said, leaning against the door. Alastor started panicking more, he could just stay here hyperventilating in front of Thaddeus.
What if I pass out? What if Thaddeus tells Zagen about this? The thoughts raced through his head, not helping with his breathing. He grabbbed his backpack from the chair. He rummaged around through it before taking out a small object. It was an inhaler.
Alastor didn't have asthma, so he really didn't need it. But his doctor had wanted him to carry out after his first few panic attacks. He put it to his mouth and pushed the button, his breathing calming down.
Thaddeus lagged from the doorway. "You have an inhaler?" He laughed. "Oh shut up." Alastor growled, grabbing a shirt to put on. "Now now, I wouldn't talk back to me like that. You know I could always tell Zagen."
Alastor froze, his hands starting to get hotter with anger. Alastor grumbled as he pulled the shirt over his head, his hair was moved out of the way exposing his ears. "Whats that?" Thaddeus asked, staring at his ear.
Alastor was confused for a second before he realized. His ears were exposed. That's meant, his hearing aid was exposed.
"I- um- It's nothing." Alastor frantically replied, moving his ear to hide the hearing aid. "No it's not. Tell me." Thaddeus snapped, making a ring of fire appear around Alastor.
"Honestly Thaddeus, you're so forgetful sometimes." Alastor said, walking out of the fire. "Whatever, I'll do it the hard way then." Thaddeus said, before lunging towards Alastor.
He punched him in the stomach before pinning him against the wall, swiftly taking the hearing aid out of his ear. Alastor yelped, falling to the ground as his world went quiet.
Damn it, damn it. Alastor saw Thaddeus laughed, waving the hearing aid in Alastors face. Thaddeus put it back into Alastors ear for a moment, just to hear him speak.
"Now, your gonna tell me all about this little thing. If not, I'm taking it and telling Zagen all about your little secret. And I'm sure he'll want to 'help' his grandson." Thaddeus said, taking the hearing aid away to wait for Alastors response.
Alastor pause, he didn't want Zagen knowing about his hearing. But he also didn't want Thaddeus knowing how his hearing aid worked, what if he turned it off while he slept? Alastor sighed, he'd have to take a chance.
Alastor nodded and Thaddeus gave him the hearing aid. "How'd you get it?" Thaddeus asked, sitting down on Alastors bed while he sat on the floor. "My dad- he... hit me too hard one day and.." Alastor started, hesitant.
"And what?" Thaddeus said, staring intently at Alastor. "And I just went deaf. The doctors said he must've damaged something in my ear." Alastor said, his voice low and not filled with his usual confidence.
"So that's why you were so scared when Zagen hit you." Thaddeus said, as Alastor remained silent. "How do you turn it off?" Alastor sighed, that's was the one question he hoped Thaddeus didn't ask.
"You press this button." Alastor said, lightly tapping on a button on the hearing aid. Thaddeus nodded, standing up. He left the room, the fire extinguishing behind him.
Alastor sighed in relief, getting up. He left his room, stepping out into the hallway. He leaned against the rales for the stairs, looking down into the living room. He noticed another man there, talking with Zagen.
Alastor walked downstairs, going into the kitchen for food. "Alastor." Alastor turned his head to face Zagen, cheezits in hand. "What?" He said, flipping his hair so it'd hide his hearing aid. He didn't need another incident.
"Come over here." Zagen said, Alastor sighed and walked over hiding the cheezits behind him. "This is your grand uncle Eros." Zagen said, gesturing to the man sitting across to Zagen.
Alastor finally got a good look at him, he looked almost exactly like Zagen just older. He had that same evil look in his eyes, which immediately made Alastor not trust him. He held out his hand for Alastor to shake.
He narrowed his eyes at Eros, not lifting his hand to meet Eros's. Alastor felt Zagens hand burn his arm, trying to push him to shake his hand. Alastor stepped away, shooting daggers at Zagen.
"I don't need to shake his hand if I don't want to." Alastor growled, walking away. He heard Zagen start to demand something from him so he picked up his hand and pressed a button on his hearing aid. Turning it off.
He kept walking to the stairs till a line of fire drew in front of him. Telling by the flame Alastor could tell Zagen was pissed. He turned on his hearing aid to look towards Zagen. "One more step and your not eating again tonight. That means you'll put back the cheezits." Zagen snapped, his orange hair glowing.
"FINE I DIDN'T WANT THE DAMN CHEEZITS ANYWAY!" Alastor yelled, throwing the cheezits at Zagens head and running off to his room.
"Quite a temper that one has." Eros said, a grin on his face. "Not for much longer." Zagen growled his orange hair glowing and his eyes blazing.
Zagen stormed into Alastors room, where Alastor was sitting down on his bed. Zagen punched Alastor, grabbing him by his collar and pushing him against the wall. "Listen here you little brat, I'll send you back to my coward of a son so fast it'll make your head spin." Zagen snarled, his hands heating up as Alastor felt the pain.
"I know what you did the first night you got here, I know about that lady." Zagen said, Alastors eyes went wide. "I have eyes everyone, how'd you like to spend some time in jail to get over that disrespect of yours?" Zagen snarled, his hands now smoking as Alastor was holding back tears.
"WELL?!" Zagen yelled, his own temper starting to get the better of him. "N-no sir." Alastor responded, his scar on his nose was broken open from Zagens punch and was bleeding.
"Eros is staying here for a few weeks, slip up one more time and you'll be sleeping in jail for a few days." Zagen said, letting Alastors go. Alastor nodded. as Zagen left the room, slamming the door behind him. Alastor just stood there, burns on his chest and his scar bleeding.
