Alastor stared at Zagen in shock. How was he supposed to take this? So there was more like him out there, doesn't that mean there was others who had different powers? No. Those thoughts would have to wait, after all there was a bigger problem at stake here.
'So Zagen owns a casino, honestly I didn't expect any less.' Alastor thought. Zagen had already gotten his favor when he had bad mouthed Bernard, it might've been sad but Alastor hated his father. Anyone who did as well was automatically on his good side.
Alastor couldn't help but admit that Zagen was getting the better of him. The small compliments Alastor was starved of made him comfortable. 'It's a trick, it's a trick.' He thought to himself, not noticing he was softly mumbling the words.
"Listen," Zagen started. "I know you're probably hesitant to believe me. But I'm trying to do what's best for you. You don't deserve what Bernard did to you, stay with me and everything will be different." Zagen said, his hand on Alastors shoulder. He was lying, of course. If Alastor didn't learn anything from the past month was that Zagen would do whatever it took to discipline Alastor.
Alastor cold gaze softened, he couldn't help it, he was easily swayed by compliments. "O-Ok. I'll do it." Alastor said, Zagen grinned. It was surprising how easily it was to trick Alastor, he'd always acted tough. But it seemed Zagen found his soft spot.
"Good choice." Zagen said, patting Alastor on the back. "We'll start with your training soon, till then enjoy your time here." Zagen said, walking away. The fact Alastor acted so much like a dog was amusing to Zagen. Simply butter him up by complimenting him and he'll listen with no hesitation.
Alastor watched Zagen walk away. Surely he made the best decision, right? It already felt good to have someone to lean on, someone to listen to. 'Damn it, as much as I hate to admit it. I can't do stuff on my own. I need some sort of direction.'
Alastor shook himself. He couldn't let his mental health get to him, no that just wouldn't do. Plus it was about time Bernard was put in his place, Alastor being the one to do it makes it even better. 'I can't wait to see the look on his face when I kill him, using something he feared his whole life.'
Alastor grinned, he'd be able to get revenge on everyone who wronged him. Bernard, Thaddeus.. As much as he wanted to be kind to Thaddeus, it was obvious he wouldn't accept his kindness.
"He'll regret rejecting me. Just wait." Alastor said. 'I'll even be able to get the upper hand on Athena, we won't need a truce once she knows I'm stronger than her.' "Everything will go along to the plan, I'll be able to live peacefully in my new life." Alastor said, fake happiness in his voice.
'No. It doesn't matter. This is how everything will be from now on. I'll finally be able to let loose, to not care for what others think. No one will ever reject me again, Zagen will protect me.' Alastor thought, sighing.
"I can't wait for the future. And for what'll become of me." Alastor said, an evil grin on his face.
That was the last time the old Alastor lived. He was gone forever, to be replaced by the new. The better. The stronger.
