{5 Years Ago}

Alastor sat in the backseat of the car, his feet dangling. "Ready to go to school?" Alastors mom, Widow, said from the front seat. "Yeah!" Alastor said, his blonde hair covering his eyes. Alastor shook his head, moving the hair out of his eyes.

Today Alastor was excited for school. After all he'd been waiting for this day for a while. It was a birthday to one of the girls in his class. A girl he happened to like. Widow had bought a little necklace for Alastor to give her.

' She's gonna love it! ' Alastor thought, he'd also decided today was the day he would confess. The day he'd tell her how she felt. ' Lily's gonna be so happy, she's gonna love the necklace and me! '

Alastor beamed with excitement. The car pulled up to the school, a teacher walking up to the car. She opened the door and let Alastor out. "Bye mom!" Alastor yelled, waving to Widow in the car.

Widow waved back, driving off afterwards. "You seem happy today, something exciting happing?" The teacher said, looking down at Alastor. "Yeah!" Alastor said, walking off to his class.

He was too excited to eat breakfast, so he went straight to his classroom. Once there he looked around, noticing Lily wasn't there yet. "Alastor!" A boy called from behind Alastor, he turned to see a boy come up to him.

Alastor struggled for a moment, trying to remember the boys name. Out of the millions of his friends he couldn't remember this boys name. "Who's that for?" The boy asked, pointing to the small present in Alastor's hand.

"Oh! This is for Lily." Alastor said. "That girl you like?" The boy asked, Alastor nodded. He then remembered the boys name, Ben. Ben scoffed. "Dude, Lily's WAY out of your league. Grow up." He said.

Alastor rolled his eyes. "After I give her this gift, and tell her I like her, you'll see." Ben laughed. "Sure dude." Ben said, patting Alastor on the back. Ben walked away as Alastor sat down.

' He doesn't know what he's talking about. Lily's gonna be so happy when I tell her. ' Alastor thought, he sat in his seat, shaking his leg as he waited for Lily to arrive.

Before he knew it the door opened, a young girl walking in. "Lily!" Alastor called out, Lily looked up at him, giving him a smile. Alastor got up, picking up his present as he walked over.

"I have something to tell you." He said, hiding the present behind his back. He would give it to her after he told her how he felt.

"I like you." Alastor said, Lily just looked at at him. "Like, as more than friends." Alastor said, Lily stared at him. A grin appearing before she talked.

"So? Did you expect me to like you too?" She said, standing up. "You're ugly, I'd never like someone like you." She said, Alastor stumbled back. "Look at your hair! What sixth grader has orange streaks through his hair? On a boy no less." She said, Alastor's heart dropped.

He didn't know what was happening with his hair, but he couldn't control it. "You have a hearing aid, AND you've been to a mental hospital. What a weirdo." Lily said, as the kids around began to laugh.

"What a loser." "He really thought Lily would like him." "Weirdo." Alastor began to breath quicker. He turned around and ran out of the classroom, running into the bathrooms.

He locked himself in one of the stalls, letting the tears roll down. ' Why would she say that? I've never been rude to her a day in my life, she must hate me. ' Alastor stayed in the restroom for the rest of the day, nobody came to check up on him.

Once the dismissal bell rang Alastor grabbed his backpack and left. He held the necklace in his left hand. He'd take it everywhere with him. Keep it as a reminder of everything that happened.

He'd never show any emotions for anyone ever again. It wasn't worth it, the rejection was terrifying. Alastor got into the car, staying quiet as his mother began to talk.

He went to his room, staying in there for the rest of the day. He was already dreading going to school tomorrow. No. He'd show them, he'd make sure they all regretted the day they crossed him.

Alastor arrived at school the next day, sitting down in his seat silently. The rest of the day went by smoothly. Except for the whispers in the halls, everyone was talking about him.

At lunch he had no one to sit with. All his friends had dropped him, saying he wasn't cool enough to sit with them anymore. Alastor sighed quietly as he sat down at a table by himself.

He started eating, not looking up as kids walked by. Though something happened that made Alastor look up. A small boy sat down on the chair next to Alastor. Alastor looked up at him, confused.

The boy looked sickly, he was pale and thin. Plus he was way smaller than he should've been. "Hi." He said, his pure white eyes staring at Alastor. Alastor didn't respond, just went back to eating. ' Theres no point. I don't want to get too close to him. '

"Don't talk much huh?" He said, passing Alastor a small cookie. Alastor looked up at it, not saying a word and leaving it there. "Wow, not even a thank you for a cookie?" The boy said.

"I don't accept it, so you don't need any thanks." Alastor said, the boy grinned. "Got you talking." He said, Alastor rolled his eyes. "Anyways, I'm Dolus. Mind telling me your name?"

"Alastor." He said, picking up the cookie and taking a bite. "Thanks." He mumbled, Dolus nodded. "What are you doing all by yourself? I thought you were popular."

Alastor stayed silent. "Oh ok, don't like talking about it." Dolus said, picking up a fry and eating it.

After that day Dolus and Alastor became close friends, Dolus was more outgoing, like Alastor once was. And Alastor was quiet, just following Dolus around.

It was better than being alone all the time, Alastor would admit that. But it still scared him, the thought of Dolus rejecting him any day.

' I'll be his friend. But I can't get too close to him. Having friends is stupid. It's just weakness. '

Alastor would never go back to his old self. This was his life now, living in fear of rejection. Never being able to truly have friends. To ever have relationships.

It's the tough truth but that's what it has to be. Alastor sighed, making Dolus look up. "You good?" He asked, giving him a pat on the back. "Yeah." Alastor said, Dolus nodded.

"Hey, your hair looks cool." Dolus said. Alastor smiled, mumbling a thanks. ' Maybe this won't be so bad after all. '
