Alastor
Alastor paced in his office, fiddling with a card in his hands. Since he'd failed his last few assignments, Zagen wasn't exactly pleased. He had warned Alastor, succeed, or else.
Alastor's mind was racing, on the card Zagen had written down his task for Alastor, and it wasn't easy. Zagen wanted Alastor to get rid of Ashur and Thaddeus, permanently.
Alastor paced, he couldn't pick a side. He didn't want to hurt Ashur and Thaddeus, well, maybe didn't want to hurt Ashur. But he couldn't fail Zagen this time.
What will he do? Hurt Truman, hurt Sam?! Alastor thought, his breathing quickening. His heart started racing, and even though he was breathing at frightening speeds he felt he wasn't getting any air.
He grabbed his hair, pulling as he tried to get air. He let out a soft whimper, setting down on the floor. His breathing was audible, and he pushed against the floor to be closer to the wall.
Alastor jumped as the door opened, showing Sam walking in. Sam's eyes widened when he saw Alastor, he closed the door, kneeling down next to him. "Alastor! What's wrong?" Sam asked, Alastor pushed himself away from Sam, closing his eyes.
He couldn't look at Sam, it only made him freak out more about the possibilities. He was torn. He didn't want to hurt Ashur, but didn't want Sam or Truman getting hurt. Alastor flinched as he felt Sam's hand on his cheek.
Alastor slowly opened his eyes. Sam gave him a small smile. "Hey, it's ok. Take some deep breaths with me, ok?" Sam said, Alastor feebly nodded. He mimicked Sam's breathing, and eventually his panicked breaths slowed to normal speed.
Alastor covered his face with his hands, his face red in embarrassment. Sam pulled his hands away, sitting next to Alastor. "Bad day?" Sam asked, Alastor silently nodded. "Wanna talk about it?" Sam questioned, Alastor shook his head in a no.
Sam held Alastor's hand, giving it a small squeeze. "Ok then, you don't have to talk about it." Sam said, Alastor silently thanked the gods that Sam didn't push to know. "Whoever made you feel like this, don't believe them. If.. if they said something about hurting me, or someone else you know, I can take care of myself. I promise." Sam said, Alastor smiled softly.
Even if Sam didn't know, those words meant so much to him. To be reassured. "It- it was Zagen. He told me I needed to get rid of Ashur and Thaddeus, or else." Alastor said, his voice small. Sam had a shocked look in his eyes for a moment, he had never seen Alastor so down or broken before.
"I have to do it. Even if he won't hurt you." Alastor said, Sam stared at him. "But why?" Sam asked. "Thaddeus... even if I don't exactly want to hurt him he'd wronged me in so many ways." Alastor said, his voice bitter.
"I'll probably feel bad for Ashur, but for Thaddeus I won't." Alastor said, he shook himself. He didn't tell Sam all of it, that he wouldn't care for a second after killing Thaddeus. He hated that part of himself now, the killer instinct part. It made him sound like.. an animal, an attack dog.
"If that's what you want, then do it. But you better stay safe, because if you die, I'll kill you." Sam said, his voice dead serious. Alastor laughed, he rubbed the forming tears from his eyes. "Got it. Don't die." Alastor said, Sam smiled.
Sam gave Alastor a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving, Alastor took a few more deep breaths before standing up. He got that deadly look in his eyes, like he was ready to kill. And he was, ready to bring an end to his cousin.
And his little friend.
