CHRISTOPHER

"Huh? Ang lakas ng trip mo eh next week pa yung punta ko dapat d'yan." I complained as I listened to Logan asking me to accompany him to an art exhibit as if I'm not thousands of kilometers away.

"Wala ka namang gagawin this week. Tinanong ko si Derek, sabi n'ya wala."

...I seriously don't know why Derek is so comfortable with letting Logan know my schedule. Kung wala lang asawa at anak 'yon si Logan baka iisipin na ng iba na magjowa kami eh. And this guy is nuts, kung makayaya akala mo nasa kabilang block lang s'ya.

"Man, think about it, at least I'm giving you a few days' heads up diba? Kesa naman mamaya agad."

"You annoying bastard," hindi ko na napigilang sabihin. "Bahala ka sa buhay mo."

That's what I told him. But I got so bored out of my mind that I ended up deciding to go. I had nothing else to do since I finished everything that I could do here before leaving.

"I thought you're spending the week here?" I heard Mother ask and when I looked at the door, she was peeking. Must be passing through to get to her office.

I was packing at the last minute.

"Logan happened," was all I said and she chuckled. Easier to put him under the bus.

"I'll help you," she said as she walked inside my room. That made me look at her suspiciously; she's never free enough to stop by like this unless she has some kind of motive. "What?"

"What is it?" I asked as I continued putting my clothes in my bag.

"What do you think of Princess Lauren?"

"Uh...he's Logan's sister?" I answered, making her see that I'm suspicious of how she's acting.

"I mean, as a man, what do you think of her?"

"That sounds like you want Logan to strangle me to death," I said as soon as I realized what she meant.

"But what do you think?"

"Mother, I have never looked at Lauren that way. If I had a sister, I would rather not have a friend of mine date her. Besides, I don't think I'll be able to look past her as Logan's sister."

There was an eerie silence after that and I slowly turned to look at my mother whose eyebrows were raised at me. As soon as our eyes met, I knew I had to keep myself from retorting at anything she say because it might turn into a huge argument.

She was saying things like, I haven't seen Lauren in years and she's definitely different. No doubt she is. Matagal yon hindi um-attend ng conferences and when she finally did, I wasn't attending that many international conferences outside my vacation because of law school.

I had so many things I wanted to retort at her words but chose not to because I still want to live. It just somehow ended and I was on my way.

At dahil biglaan naman yung pagpunta ko nang maaga sa Great Crystal, walang media na nakaabang sa akin.

"Your Highness, uh, alam kong ayaw mo masyado sa chismis."

"And you're telling me this, because?" I asked Derek.

"Narinig ko sa attendant ng Queen na nag-send s'ya ng marriage proposal sa King and Queen ng Great Crystal."

"What?" Gulat na tanong ko. "So she already made her move? And not just showing her intention to?" Nasabi ko na lang. "I'll take care of it. Just don't let Logan know about it yet, unless his parents tell him."

But I didn't really know how to take care of it. Hanggang sa nalimutan kong may ganun because I got busy.

"Dali na sumama ka na."
